10/10/15

6-foot-1, 185-pound, lengthy, solid athletic frame. Well proportioned throughout, shoulders are sloped, has room for future development. A two way guy, showed extremely well off the mound, in his two innings of work, made quick work of the hitters. A right-handed pitcher, works from the full windup, hands go over his head. The gather is good, arm never stops, builds momentum. The fastball has good action to armside, pounded right-handed hitters in well. The fastball was clocked at 74-80 mph, with more in there. The breaking ball was late with depth, clocked at 68-70 mph, had sweeping action to it. The changeup had cut action, clocked at 67 mph. The arm action could drop to a lower slot, looks to be more natural the lower it gets. Worked quick and showed all three pitches. Offensively, showed solid hand eye coordination, making solid contact in both rounds of BP. The hands start low, are loose with some movement and bat is in a good starting position. The feet are even and slightly wider than shoulder width. The lower half is under control, has a minimal stride, the back half could get involved more. The swing path is level across his chest, sprayed it from gap to gap. The tee exit velocity was 82 mph and ran a 4.8 from home to first. Defensively, showed good routes and angles to balls. The feet work well, steps through and over. The  arm works was clocked at 76 mph, has carry to his throws. Projects for me as a pitcher, more of a bullpen ground ball guy if he decided to drop the arm slot.

At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds the body is very strong, athletic, has some more room to fill out. At the plate he hits from the right-side, the stance is wide, not much of a load, the bottom half is under control, needs to get a bit more drive from the backside. The hands really work, the bat speed is plus, the tee exit velocity was 82. The finish in the swing is good, might cut across it at times, but are all minor adjustments. The strength and athleticism will take over at some point, will punish baseballs. Time down the line was 4.70, had good routes in the outfield. Footwork was good and the arm is solid. The arm action is long and loose, was 72 from the outfield. Off the mound, this right-hander, was 76-78 out of a high-¾ slot. The curveball was 67-68, the spin and depth were good. The motion has some movement to it, hands come up over the head, but the arm never stops moving, stays back, is on time and inline. Foot speed needs to improve. Will be interesting to see him in the next 8 months, the strength and size intrigue me.
