A right handed hitter, stance is slightly closed off, hands are loose at the shoulder height. The swing gets uphill at times, needs to shorten just a bit in the beginning part of swing. The approach is more to the middle of the field to opposite. Showed exit velocity of 79 mph. Defensively, showed smooth actions, arm is clean, clocked at 71 mph, had good flight to throws for his age. Has a frame that would support plenty of upper body strength. Off the mound the delivery is simple and smooth, though most of the present velocity comes from the arm. If Delacruz begins tapping into his legs more velocity is to be expected. A two pitch right hander for now, Delacruz’s fastball-curveball combination already flash the makings of plus high school offerings. The fastball has natural run to the armside and if commanded, will run into the hands of right handers with velocity, clocked at 74-77 mph, look for it to continue to climb. If Delacruz can harness an average changeup it will help make the fastball even more effective. The curve has nice shape, varying from 59-65 mph. The harder it was thrown, the sharper it dropped. Becoming consistent with the curve will be integral to his development.
