Herter is a long and lean 6-foot-4 198 pound catcher. He ran a 7.65 60. Offensively- Sets up even with his feet with weight slightly towards his backside. Hands are elevated with a flat barrel angle. Bat tips the barrel towards the mound while taking a short stride forward. Posts up against his front side; aggressive lower half; staying inside contact. Barrel stays level through the zone; line drives with gap-to gap approach. Two-handed finish over back shoulder; 82 MPH exit velocity. Defensively- Behind the plate; sets up in an elevated secondary position; getting even more upright as he receives the ball. Transfer is adequate and throws were online. Staying more compact and aggressive through his finish will cut some time off his 2.19-2.25 pop time range. Arm strength was 70 MPH. Breaks down well in the dirt. With physcial frame, may project better at 1B.
