2014: Projectable 6-foot-6, 190 pound righty with long limbs. Pitches with a simple, clean delivery with a fastball that sits in the upper 80's, touching the low 90's at times. Good mid-70's curveball with depth. Mixes in a changeup and slider--a pitch he recently added to his arsenal. A good 2015 spring could put Burkholder in serious consideration as a top draft pick next June. He's committed to Louisville.
MWFG 8/16/13:a right hander pitcher from Crown Point, entered as the most touted player in the event. It was easy to see why when he toed the rubber. The 6-foot-6 frame combined with high athletic leg kick are the first thing you notice. Then Burkholder threw his first two pitches at 90. Burkholder sat 86-89 and flashed a sharp breaking ball. As Burkholder continues to develop and throw strikes, he is one of the top arms in the country.
5/15/13 Game Notes:Burkholder is an elite 2015 arm. The 6-foot-6 righty leaves plenty to like. The day I saw him the breaking ball was not as good as it has been in the past and caused some troubles for Noah. The arm works well with good quickness. Burholder's fastball was anywhere from 83-88 touching 88 twice. Burkholder also showed signs of a good change up at 77.
2012: Burkholder is a 6-foot-4 inch incoming freshman pitcher at Crown Point HS. He was easily the biggest surprise at the event. As an incoming freshman he showed advanced feel on the mound. He was a consistent 78-81 with his fastball, touching 82 mph. As his bullpen session went along, he showed a good 12/6-11/5 breaking ball with the ability to keep it in the strike zone. He also displayed good arm action on his changeup (66-68 mph), however it was a little too straight at times. Burkholder is a prospect to pay close attention to as he enters his high school baseball career.
Burkholder now heading into his sophomore year is now 6-foot-6 and is an imposing presense on the mound. His velocity continues to climb. He is up to 88 now.
