7/26/17

5-foot-11, 175-pound, average athletic frame. A well proportioned athlete, already filling out. The top tool is his ability to pitch, the delivery on this right-hander is athletic, simple and balanced. The hands start high, work down with rocker step, move back up with athletic leg raise. The arm has average length, arm works out of a higher ¾ slot, the fastball was clocked at 80-81 mph, comes out of his hand with ease. The breaking ball is an above average pitch, has top to bottom break, clocked at 63-65 mph. Times to the plate were at 1.45. At the plate hits from the right side, setup is wide, feet are even, hands are held above the shoulder, with some wrap to them. For timing uses a knee to knee leg raise, hands and weight stay back. The swing is flat to up through the zone. The backside lower half is under control, uses the entire body to hit the baseball. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 80 mph, collected a double and made hard contact in three other at bats in game play. Time down the line was 4.91. Defensively, has smooth solid actions at third base. The hands are soft, fields out front, moves well throughput, especially to the glove side. The arm has good strength across the diamond, clocked at 81 mph, showed to have touch as well. The pro move was made with ease. Projects for me as more of a pitcher, the ability to really spin the baseball is advanced, strike thrower.

Home-First: 4.91

Exit Velocity: 80 MPH

Arm Velocity: 81 MPH

7/19/16

On the mound, fastball sat 75-79 mph with arm side run and a downward plane to it. The breaking ball has the correct shape to it, sitting 67-70 mph, more fastball hand speed is needed for the spin pitch to make a jump. The changeup is 73 mph, and he was 1.44 to the plate in the stretch. The arm path is long on the backside with a free and clean motion to it. Sinks on the back leg as he goes to home, needs to minimize the sink so he can get above his secondary stuff more efficiently. Showed a good tempo to his delivery as well. The frame projects, and the arm works, good follow on the mound. Played first base as well, showing good feel around the bag and the ability to make throws. Ran a 5.0 on his dig to first base. At the plate, has a tee exit velocity of 77 mph. Hits out of wide base, the hands are clean and free. The path is long to the ball, wraps bat as he starts the swing. Top spun balls during batting practice. Follow on the mound for me.
