Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
6-foot-1, 145-pound right-handed pitcher. Young and lanky right-hander who caught my attention as the future is bright. The velocities aren’t there yet due to the age and physical maturing but they are coming. The delivery is clean, quick in tempo, and the arm works very well. The glove side is under control and he does a good job of tracking at a young age. The fastball touched 77 mph arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is big in shape, plus in depth, sitting at 63 mph. As he gets stronger the spin pitch should be an excellent one. The changeup spin the right way, sitting at 68 mph. In about 2 years, this dude, with hard-work, will be lighting it up on the bump.
10/14/18
6-foot-140, longer, strong athletic frame. The shoulders are rounded, back is wider, has plenty of room to fill out and put added weight on. At the plate hits from the right side, feet are shoulder width apart, front foot starts slightly open. The hands are set higher, loose, bat has tilt to it. The lower half is under control, slightly longer stride, could hit against a firmer front side, weight leaks forward just a tick, could stay back longer. The swing is down to level to up, barrel stays in the zone a long time, driving the baseball from gap to gap. Looks to finish high with two hands above the shoulders. The swing creates lift and loft to it, had a tee exit velocity of 73 mph, has a ton more in there as he gains strength. Ran the sixty-yard dash in 8.47 mph. Defensively, moves very well to both sides, hands are soft out front, easy clean transfer to throwing arm. The arm works out of a natural ¾ slot, clocked at 67 mph, good touch on all throws. The double play starts and feeds were performed correct. Off the mound, has a fastball at 71-72 mph. The delivery has tempo and timing to it, hands start low, work up with leg raise, gets to a good gather, with weight on the back side. The direction is inline and gets extension out front on release. The secondary pitches are advanced for his age, change up has above feel, with fade to it, clocked at 68 mph, wth the breaking ball having tight spin at 60 mph. Time will tell which way he goes, like the feel for pitching off the mound. Strength and a regimented throwing program will add in his development.
