Maryland Preseason Preview
Body: 5’7’’, 140 pounds. Athletic frame with some strength.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, crouched, slightly open stance at the plate. Solid hand separation with a smooth back load and shorter stride into an uphill swing path. Stays behind the ball well, keeping his hands inside with a slight recoil in the swing. Solid middle of the field line drive approach.
Power: 84 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Some pull side pop present.
Arm: RH. OF - 77 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from an over the top slot.
Defense: Plays through the ball with quick feet, fielding the ball mostly in the middle of the body. Quick, clean exchanges with solid momentum towards the target.
Run: 4.84 Home to first base time.
Delivery: Side-step wind-up and easy high leg kick into a tall, compact balance position. Smooth, stride down the mound landing slightly closed to home plate. Gets over the front side with a full follow through and slightly upright finish. Creates arm speed through release with some whip to it.
Arm Action: RH. Throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarter slot with fairly easy effort.
FB: T78 mph, 75-78 mph. Showed some late life with an average spin rate of 1978 rpm per TrackMan.
CB: 64-67 mph. More 11/5 shape with an average spin rate of 2162 rpm per TrackMan.
CH: 68-71 mph. Showed some fade and dive at times.
