Slotted at No. 9 overall on our updated list is OF Kenton Unruh (Staley, 2024), who recently represented Team Missouri at the Future Games. Built at a strong 6-foot, 185-pounds, Unruh is a name that's regularly produced in front of our staff in the past and he flashed real intrigue off the barrel at the Future Games. A 6.77 runner that's breached the 95+ mph exit velocity mark, Unruh's certainly one of Missouri's top uncommitted juniors.
Ranked nationally in the 2024 class, Unruh has shown our staff loud raw strength in previous looks, and he juiced several balls that confirmed that throughout the weekend. Built at a strong 6-foot, 185-pounds, Unruh generates bat speed from the right side and scolds balls off the barrel, doing so twice in the same game on the tournament’s first day. He’s run as fast as a 6.81 60-yard dash previously while also peaking at 86 mph from the outfield. Unruh remains a top uncommitted prospect in Missouri’s incoming junior class and he’s set to represent Team Missouri at the Future Games at the end of this month.
Positional Profile: OF/1B
Body: 6-0, 185-pounds. Projectable build with present strength and athleticism.
Hit: SH. Balanced, square setup. Hands set lower in stance with a high back elbow and some pre-pitch rhythm. Toe-tap and small hand back into a short stride with a strong front leg. Level swing plane, very quick hands through the zone with strength at contact. Line-drive approach with gap-to-gap power potential.
Power: 88.1 max exit velocity, averaged 81.8 mph. 286’ max distance. Above average bat speed.
Arm: RH. OF - 86 mph. Long high-3/4 arm action with a clean release. Carry and accuracy.
Defense: In the outfield, clean glove and footwork to field, stays under control with tempo and uses a shuffle crow hop with momentum through his throws.
Run: 4.25 runner home to first.
Positional Profile: OF
Body: 6-foot, 180-pound physical frame with present strength
Hit: RHH. At the plate starts with a neutral stance and athletic posture. Hands get set at shoulder height with a high back elbow. Strong weight stack into the back leg with rotational push into a firm front leg. Slight uphill bat path with a line drive approach. Has very good strength at contact with the hands. Hands work quickly through the zone and shows good overall bat speed. Power potential and hits with good leverage.
Power: 99 mph exit velocity in BP.
Arm: RH. OF-86 mph. High ¾ arm slot with a long and loose arm action.
Defense: In the outfield attacks the ball with controlled rhythm and shorter strides. Fields the ball outside the glove side leg with a feel for glove action and soft hands. Utilizes a shuffle crow hop technique with good momentum headed towards target with throws having good carry.
Run: 6.81 runner in the 60.
