Norris, a 2020 right-handed hitting outfielder and pitcher, stands at 6-foot-0 and weighs a firm 140 pounds. Offensively- Starts from an upright square stance with the hands in front of the back shoulder with the barrel of the bat 45-degrees to the ground. Starts the swing with front leg kick while the hands drop further below the shoulder and get outside of the back shoulder on the load. Drove the ball from the pull side gap to the middle of the field during batting practice. Exit velocity of 71 MPH was recorded, but could improve that number if the front hip could stay closed longer giving the barrel of the bat more extension and would be able to finish longer on the follow through. Defensively- Aggressively approaches the ball on the ground, but fields it more to the center of the body rather than to glove side. Funnels the ball to the chest separating from there and creating a traditional long arm action for an outfielder. Recorded an arm velocity of 71 MPH, which could improve of the front hip stays closed which would help the ball have more carry and velocity as well as have the throwing arm stay more parallel to the lead arm and result in better extension on throws. Pitching- Starts from the third base side of the rubber with both hands chin height. Gets into the gathered position with a drop step towards the first base line while the pivot foot drags to the center of the rubber, the lead hip is rotated inward as well as the lead knee. Clean separation from the chest but wraps the arm causing an arch in the back losing the posture causing a bit of an arm drag and preventing the fingers to be on top of the ball on release. Fastball, from a high ¾ arm slot, topped out at 72 MPH with some arm side run. Stayed mostly to the inner third of the plate, but with a more consistent release point should be able to work both sides of the plate with better command. Curveball showed tight spin and depth at 65 MPH with 11-to-5 action. Changeup was a quality pitch showing very good depth and rotation, but could use more of a differential, sitting at 69 MPH, from the fastball.
