The senior Clarion University commit stands 6-3, 230-pounds with a big build that continues to get stronger with time. Gresham stood out offensively this week going 6-7 with 2 doubles and 5 RBI’s in a game against O’Hara. He launched a double to each gap as well as a third to dead center in which was held up a first. Sets up relaxed at the plate and uses a simple load of the hands back to create separation before launch. Bat path stays direct and level throughout allowing him to not only hit for above average power but also control the bat well enough to hit for average as well. The senior corner guy projects as a serious 4-6 hole guy at the college level.
New York Games (July 7-9, 2015)
Stands at 6-foot-2, 237 pounds, with a strong body build. At the plate his setup is open stance, short stride, with a nice back load. His hands are long, over the plate, swinging with long/full extension through the ball, and some uphill tilt with a high finish. Fielding he looked good through the ball and receiving throws from the position players, but do to tightness didn’t throw in the showcase. Chris is a first baseman and hitter who shows some potential to progress to the next level in college.
2/15 Gresham has a solid 1B body at 6-foot-2, 237-pounds. At the plate there is power potential. He starts with his hands high, drives them with a short path to the ball, slightly uphill path creating back spin, long extension, high balanced finish. Exit velocity was 84 mph. At 1B he moves well for a big guy. Stays low, gloves open, shoulders line up with target, throws from an over-the-top slot, arm strength at 73 mph.
Gresham stands 6-foot-2, 237-pounds and plays the corner. He showed good upper body explosiveness with a 21'8" medicine ball pass at the "Winter Combine". Defensively he showed sound fundamentals. Though his footwork and quickness need work still, he shows to be able to handle himself fine at the corner. He fields everything out in front and stays low to the ground. Arm strength right now is only average but projecting right now as a college first baseman his bat is what will be relied upon. At the plate Gresham starts balanced and a quiet. He loads simple and stays short to the ball. Where a lot of big body swingers tend to get long to the ball, Chris does not. He's able to maintain a direct path to contact and great bat control with +power. He does come out of the zone a little early at times but aside from that this 6-foot-3 Junior definitely projects as a strong next level bat.
