John Ryan, RHP (Wheatley) stands an impressive 6-foot-7, 195-pounds with projection all over the board. He uses a balanced delivery, long over-the-top slot, a little choppy with his arm action, but only being a 2016 grad he has plenty of time to develop himself as a stand out pitcher. Currently his fastball sits 81-84 mph, actions reminiscent to Steve Trachsel a former pitcher of the New York Mets. He needs to work more and continue using his legs on the mound to develop a stronger fastball. Right now his fastball shows some deception, being sneaky quick with late action. His curve ball is impressive at 69-71, 12/6 shape, and fills up the zone. His change-up sits 69-71, arm fade, fastball hand speed. If he continues to work hard and clean his mechanics up his ceiling potential could be very high.
