A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Full framed corner infielder at 5-foot-11 220 pounds who swings it from the left side. He ran a 8.23 60 on the day. Offensively- Open setup ; weight slides slightly forward on swing. Some pre-pitch bat waggle that could impact his timing. Sweeping swing path to his pull side. Defensively- At the corners Steward showed active feet; moves well laterally and gets into proper throwing position. Will profile better at 1B at the next level.

St. Rose (7/10/18)
6-foot, 200-pounds. Strong build. Offensively - Square set-up from the left-side with feet just outside of shoulder width. No stride or forward move in swing. Pulls hands back to load and generates bat speed with wrists/hands. High, one-handed finish. Flashes pull-side power/lift in swing. Exit Velocity was 81 MPH. Defensively - Balanced actions at 3B. Stays in control of body when moving laterally. Compact, quick arm action. Maintains wide, low base when fielding. Arm strength was 69 MPH. Pitching - Balanced actions with direction towards target. Strong lower half creates power and leverage. Over the top release. Short arm action with bend in elbow at hand break. Works quickly. Repeats delivery on all 3 offerings. FB was 75-76 MPH and topped at 77. CB showed consistent 11/5 shape at 66-67 MPH. Lastly, CH was 68-69 MPH with good hand speed.
Campus Series-Albany (July 18, 2017)
Steward stands in at 6-foot-0, 200-pounds with a thick athletic frame. Offensively- Lefty sets up in an open stance with his feet shoulder width apart. Shows a slight knee bend with his body leaning towards the plate, holding the bat above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a knee raise in to stride forward while his hands move back slightly into his hitting position. Good lower body rotation getting hips cleared and using whole body frame in swing process. Shows quick hands to the hitting zone with an upward lift barrel path throughout into a high one-handed finish. Tends to let the ball travel deep over the plate. Better timing with a more pronounced trigger would help be more consistent getting the barrel into the hitting zone on time. Demonstrated line drive ability all fields during batting practice round. Recorded an exit velocity of 78 MPH. Defensively- Good footwork and approach to baseball. Good fielding mechanics getting the ball into the chest with a good transition into the throwing position. Good aggressive footwork prior to the throw. Moves well left/right and in on the run. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 72 MPH. Pitching- Righty sets up on the left side of the rubber with a simple side step into a high leg raise above the hip crease. Breaks down well with good loose arm action with a high ¾ release point. Smooth with his delivery utilizing his whole body throughout the process of the pitching motion. Fastball range was 74-75 MPH and peaked at 77 MPH showing good arm side run. Curveball was 63-64 MPH with 12/6 action and tight spin. Change-up was 67-68 with sinking action. Will need more development to increase velocity difference off fastball. Consistent in the zone with a good mix of pitches causing a lot of swing and misses.
