Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Physical: Lengthy, athletic 6-foot-1, 190lb frame with good strength. 7.08 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Taller, balanced stance as the hands played with calm, soft rhythm by the head to begin. Utilized a short toe-tap stride to initiate the barrel through a flat, high intent path into the hitting zone. Operated with leverage at impact, showing off some weight-shift into a sturdy, firm front-side. Created efficient ground-power in the swing en route to a 67% line drive rate (via Trackman) and added a near 340 foot batted ball distance at his peak (doubles power). Handled pitches in any quadrant with flush contact, able to pull the hands in tight when needed.
Pitching: RHP - The primary righty started off the left side of the rubber with a quick, breakneck tempo in the delivery. Liked to compete, getting downhill from a higher, H ¾ slot with a tough angle into the zone. The FB ranged from 87-91 mph at near T2500rpms and 6.5 feet of extension. Mixed a 78-82 mph SL with short lateral shape across the plate (4 inches HM) and added a 79-81 mph CH at 1484rpms and 10+ inches of fade. Attacked hitters in/out with the heater early and set up for advantage count offspeed.
6/30/21
Physical: Strong, lengthy 6-foot-1, 170lb frame with high level athleticism found. 7.39 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Upright, balanced stance with waving rhythm at the head to start. Utilized a leg hang to initiate a slightly uphill, powerful bat path into the hitting zone. Produced impressive rotational scores (via Blast Motion) with ability to match pitch-plane out of the hand. Efficient lower half drive, hitting into a stiff/sturdy front side and recorded a 50% line drive rate (via Trackman). Worked his way up to a T96 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak good enough for consistent doubles power to pull (338 foot batted ball distance, occasional HR juice to LF).
Pitching: The primary righty started off the left-side of the rubber, using a break-neck pace in the delivery. Got the ball and went after hitters, pitching with some fire and competitive nature. The FB landed at 88-91 mph (T2500rpms, carry, 58% zone rate) from a loose H ¾ power slot, missing barrels early. Turned to a sharp lateral, commanded SL (76-78 mph, T2373rpms, 8 inches HM via Trackman).
4/03/21
Physical: Lean 6-foot-1, 170 lb frame with athleticism
Pitching: Works fast from the drop step; high leg lift to the chest before getting into back side and driving down the mound, body is in sync at foot strike and accelerates through release against a strong post leg; arm action is long and whippy through a high 3/4 slot. FB: High spin with life and ride through the zone. CB: Slurvy action with high spin and -8" of horizontal break. CH: Kills the spin with up to 11" of arm side fade.
9/11/20
Physical: 6-foot-0, 160 pounds; long, athletic frame. 7.3 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Wide feet and bent knees, keeps the hands up very high above the ears; uses a toe tap into a small stride forward, pushes the hands back slightly just before swinging. Active lower half, repeatable and on time in his mechanics with Slightly uphill path, bottom hand dominant swing with a knob to the ball type swing. Shot the ball well the other way, also sprayed some line drives to the pull side; peak Trackman exit velocity of 91 MPH. Defensively: Tall stance with slight bend at the waist, leaning over the balls of his feet; Took careful steps to the ball to ensure he can line up behind it to make the throw. Easy hands that field and transfer smoothly; somewhat short take back out of the glove, appearing to keep a bent elbow with loose actions from a 3/4 slot. OF - 89 MPH. Pitching: Good tempo down the slope, does gather at leg lift though before venturing to home. Long, loopy arm action but gets up in ready position on time. FB: Peak velo of 86 MPH, while sitting 82-85 MPH. Fastball played very well at the bottom of the zone, filled it up nicely. . SL: 71-74 MPH Throws a slow, breaking slider that could be used to keep hitters off balance. CH: 73-73 MPH. Throws a CH with good fade, tunnels well off the FB.
