A lean 5-foot-9, 140 pounds. Ran a 7.36 in the 60 yard dash and ran a 4.5 home to first. Offensively- as a switch hitter, the right side, stands in the box in a tall stance. Slight leg lift. Short load before attacking the baseball. Displays a short compact swing. Showed hard consistent line drives to the middle of the field. Gets good use of lower half. Finishes in a wide base. The left side, stands in the box in a tall stance. Rests the bat on the shoulder. Slight leg lift. Throws hands into the hitting zone. Showed hard consistent contact to the opposite side of the field. Top exit velocity 79 MPH. Defensively- Showed active footwork. Gets himself in a good position when fielding the baseball. Moves well laterally. Shows soft hands. Throws from a quick mid ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity 68 MPH.
Bomber's Tryouts (11.19.17
Solimando stands at 5-foot-7 115 pounds with a wiry frame. Ran a 7.91 60. Offensively- Stance slightly wider than shoulder width, somewhat opened. Bend of the knees, hands held close to ear height. Leg kick to engage, swing path flat through the zone, slight incline with contact. Exit velocity measured at 68 MPH, a 6 MPH improvement from 2016. Defensively- narrow base with feet close together to start. Creeps to the ball with a low-to-the ground approach. Double shuffle prior to release with long arm swing, short extension. Arm strength measured at 69 MPH, an 8-mph improvement from last year.

Solimando, a 2021 right-handed hitting middle infielder, stands at 5-foot-3 and weighs 100 pounds, ran a 8.50 60. Offensively- Starts with a square base, knees bent, weight evenly distributed with the hands held in front of the back shoulder and barrel of the bat slightly more than 45 degrees. Gets to the launch phase of the swing with a subtle shift of weight to the back leg with lead leg kicking up with and inward rotation of the lead knee while the hands are loaded straight back outside and below the back shoulder. Compact and tight path to the ball during batting practice, with most of the balls peppered from the pull side line to the pull side gap. Recorded an exit velocity of 62 MPH, but could improve of more drive and energy is created with the lower half. Defensively- Sets up athletically before the pitch using a prep step creeping movement with the hands in front of the body. Approaches the ball aggressively but with quality body control using good footwork to create a hop to the left side of the body. The transfer is made below the waist creating a longer arm action, not traditional of a middle infielder, and also created a bit of an arm drag during release as the lower half gets into position quicker than the upper half. Recorded an arm velocity of 61 MPH, from a side arm angle.
