6-foot-0, 145 pounds, average athletic frame, the shoulders have some slope, and the frame should be able to add strength without sacrificing athleticism. Lean muscle with room to fill out in the coming seasons. Average proportions. Sears worked out in the outfield and off the mound profiles best on the bump. Off the mound this left-hander has a smooth repeatable delivery, has coil to his high leg raise, frontside could be stronger and inline more. The arm action has some whip to it, works out of a more ¾ slot. The baseball comes out ok, clocked at 75-74 mph, with a ton more in there. The breaking ball has slurve break to it, clocked at 62-63 mph, needs to be thrown harder. The change up has action to it, clocked at 70-71 mph. A three pitch pitcher, as he adds strength and cleans the frontside up the velocity will increase. The arm was clocked at 75 MPH, throws from a ¾ slot. Could engage the lower half more to help the velocity spike. Long arm swing, showed carry on throws when in sync with the body. Work from a balanced, even stance in the box. Hands start quiet and high before dropping down to his chest. Two-part swing, shows bat control, hips rip through point of contact. Posted a tee exit velocity at 80 MPH. Elevates the ball, some loft in the bat path, made consistent, hard contact during batting practice. Will need to prove the hit tool against velocity and spin with those mechanics, but feel for the barrell was on display during the workout. Sears is a 2020 prospect to monitor in game action. An intriguing two-way player.
