5-foot-9, 195-pound, thick, strong, already filling out. The hands and wrists have good strength to them. A right-handed hitting catcher, top tool is his receiving and pop time down to second, which was at 1.93-2.06. The hands are soft on the catch, works hard on the low ball and anticipates well on dirt ball. The feet are quick in the transfer, gains ground with them and closes down the front side. The arm actions is short and clean, throws from a ¾ slot, arm was clocked at 73 mph. Pitchers looked to be comfortable throwing to them in their bullpens. At the plate, looks to drive the baseball to all fields, slightly open stance, hands are held higher. The swing is short to contact, stays through it with a high one-handed finish. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 81 mph, hard contact in both rounds of batting practice, creates backspin, has some lift to the swing. Solid catch and throw guy, good follow.

2/18/17

5-foot-9, 165-pound, small, solid, strong athletic frame. The hands, wrists, legs have strength to them with fast twitch actions. Defensively, is extremely quick and active behind the dish, looks to be a solid leader back there as well, worked extremely well with pitchers. The stance is wide, base is balanced, hands are very strong when receiving keeps pitch in the zone, gives the umpire something to see. The feet are quick, he gains ground on throws and closes down the front side. The transfer is glove to hand, arm action is short, throws from a high ¾ slot, throws were on a line to second. The arm was clocked at 76 mph from chute, arm strength is above average and pop times of 2.03-2.18. At the plate, hits from the right side, the hands start at shoulder height, bat angle is correct, feet are slightly open, and little wider than shoulder width, sits in a small crouch. For timing has a controlled leg raise, gains ground with the stride, hands get loaded and stay back. The swing is level across his chest, stays through the ball well and punished to both gaps, hits the ball extremely hard, doesn't get cheated with his hacks. Finishes the swing with two hands, rolls hands late, has some extension. Big time follow, can play on both sides of the field, need to get an early glance at this one.
