The JUCO D1 Player of the Year & a First Team All-American, Osuna batted .459 with 25 HR and 107 RBI in 2021. The PBR No. 8 JUCO prospect for the 2021 Draft, Osuna has the potential to mash like former UNC slugger Aaron Sabato, albeit from the right side instead of the left. The 6-foot, 230-pound strongman power has big bat speed and looks to be a middle of the order run producer for the Tar Heels this spring.
2021 MLB Draft: A North Carolina recruit, Osuna was the driving force offensively for the Senators this spring. He led the country in RBIs with 107 and was second in home runs with 25. At 6-foot-1, 235 pounds, Osuna projects to hit for both power and average from the right side of the plate. He produces high-end exit velocities and tape-measure home runs to the big parts of the park with relative ease using a short, compact swing. He’s a solid defender with good hands as a first baseman and has the type of impact potential in his bat needed to profile at the position.
6-foot-1, 235-pound first baseman might have the most pure power to walk the campus at Walters State, including comparison to his older brother Ramon Osuna (2015 Juco World Series MVP). Sturdy frame with stacked physicality. Simple, balanced RHH stance with quick, compact load. Gets on plane early and hands accelerate quickly through the zone. Tremendous sequencing in rotation and the ball jumps off the barrel with exit velos peaking at 114 mph and distances up to 439 ft per Trackman. Heavy dose of loud contact with power to all fields, homering twice in fall scrimmage play in September going deep to RCF and LCF. Defensively, solid at first base moving around the bag with solid hands and slightly below average arm. Moves the frame well as steady runner logging a 7.08 sixty time. Osuna looks to step into a full time role in 21’, expect some ups and downs but a high-ceiling for offensive production based on his batted balls statistics (plus a 1:1 K/BB ratio).
