A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball

A small town kid from Vernal, UT is the type of player whose movement patterns in the INF and swing mechanics in the box drew my interest right away. A MIF’er that approaches the ball with some educated feet and plays out front and below the ball, and moves well side to side, but the arm will relegate to 2B and could become an offensive type player on the other side of the bag. The bat is compact and smooth, but doesn’t show quality hand and bat speed yet, but he could as he becomes stronger and learns to let it go. A JV player as a freshman, will get his shot to prove himself next spring, as the talent should improve to where he is a trusted member of a varsity lineup, as Uintah lost 8 position players to graduation. Not a runner, moving over to 2B should suit his game well, as he can pick it and shows bat potential.

Positional Profile: SS/RHP 5-10 170 lb athletic buuild with some glove actions defensively with sound movement patterns. Arm is below avg now with accurate throws. Bat will play and looks the part of a hitter with solid swing mechanics. Poor runner now and can shave some time off as he matures. Profiles as an offensive 2B type w/the ceiling of a D2/JUCO level of play. Body: 5-10, 168-pounds. Small frame w/proportioned muscular look. Some strength present and has room for another 10-15 Lbs w/added maturity strength Hits: RHH. Even props square stance w/athletic stance. Bat held at a 45-degree angle over his back shoulder and high elbow. Bat turns well into load, as it's a semi pre-load position. Small knee kick and stays loaded into his back hip. Sets his foot down softly at foot strike and is balanced overall with a short, direct compact stroke into a smooth whippy 2-hand arching finish. Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 81.9 MPH. 298' max distance. LD efficient hitting stroke and keeps the barrel in the zone well. Swing more geard for LD through the box and to the pull side. Will develop pull power as he continues to add strength. Arm: RH. INF-74 mph. Defense:
