Scouting Report
8/14/22
Positional: 6-foot-4, 210-pound first baseman with an upright stance in the box, who looks to elevate pull side. Had the highest exit velocity for Team Colorado at 96.9. He was a two-way at the event with more projection on the mound right now.
Pitching: 6 foot 4, 210-pound RHP with room to gain strength and mature physically. He made it look easy in his three innings on the mound. His fastball sat 84-5, topping at 86. The slider was 75-79, and the change-up was 76. Working from a high three-quarter slot and a simple delivery, he could locate his fastball and create swing and miss with the slider (5K's). He is a guy you can dream on, and there should be more to come as he continues to fill out his frame.
4/08/22
Two-way talent has a big lean frame and tons of potential both ways. Thompson went 5IP, 2H, 0ER, with 4K’s. FB ranged from 84-87 touching 88. Maintained velo throughout. Located both sides of the plate. Maintained composure and showed leadership with a errors behind him. SL 78-79 was firm and in the zone. SL has a chance to be great pitch. CH 73-75 good feel and keeps it down in the zone. Consistent easy delivery. More in the tank with velo. High ceiling.
2/20/21
At early stages of development, demonstrated consistent and gradual improvements in measurables. Fastball topped out at 86.3 mph from over-the-top release (release height 6.21). Has slight coil and some dip/drive to delivery. Good extension(8.90) and high ceiling. Also shows potential as right-handed hitter/first baseman. 93 mph exit velocity. Some length, but has future potential for power. Great to follow as he trends up!
5/25/20
Narrow starting stance in the middle of the mound, slight pivot into a controlled, sweeping leg lift, strong lead leg block on landing, clean arm action with over-the-top release. FB 79-81. CB 64-68. CH 71-72. Long, lean body type with a very projectable frame. Pitcher to follow.
