14u Warriors Baseball Club Win 2nd National Tournament In A Month

Warriors Baseball Club

Warrior Baseball Club battled Team Elite Prime (GA) in the BCS National Championship.

Warrior Baseball jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 2 innings, but Team Prime tied the game in the top of the third. Warrior Baseball was able to get one run in each of the next 3 innings to make the score 7-4.

After a two hour rain/lighting delay, Joey Johnston (Brother Rice) closed out the last two innings.

Jacob Erickson (Allen Park) got the win on the mound. Dillion Kark (Orchard Lake St. Mary) went 4-4 with an RBI. Reese Trahey (Brother Rice) was awarded the most valuable pitcher of the tournament. Throwing 11 innings pitched 10K's, 1.273 ERA. He also hit .346 for the tournament.

Other significant contributors were: Caleb Jackson (Brother Rice) .409 Avg, Danny Morris (Livonia Stevenson) .391 Avg and team leading 12 RBIs, and Bobby Cavin (Livonia Stevenson) .526 Avg.

In the Championship Game, the Warriors squared off against Phenom Signature (CA). This was a back and forth game, in which offense dominated as the teams combined for 24 hits and 23 runs.

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st. The Phenoms came back in the bottom of the 1st and scored 4. At the end of 3 the Phenoms were up 5-4.

In the forth the Warriors loaded the bases with 2 outs, and Joey Johnston had a base hit to tie the game at 5. Ben Clark reached on an error by the third baseman which plated two Warriors making the score 7-5. Cavin then had a single to make the score 8-5, and Devin Basley (Brother Rice) had a single down the 3rd base line making the score 10-5.

Danny Morris threw two shutout innings, getting the Warriors to the 6th with a 10-5 lead.

In the bottom of the 6th the Phenoms were able to cut the lead to 11-8 and had base runners on 1st and 2nd with only one out. The Phenoms hitter hit a ball to short center field which looked like a for sure hit, but Reese Trahey made a sliding catch, and doubled off the runner at second to end the treat.

The Warriors got runners on 1st and 3rd in the 7th inning, when Bobby Cavin came up and hit a 3-run home run to left field. This home run put the Warriors up 14-8. Trahey closed the game out and Warrior Baseball won its second National Championship in one month.
