As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

Head Coach Jason Thompson and the Cascade Cadets will look to rebound from an 8-18 season a year ago.  Thompson's team returns seven positional starters and six arms this spring with the hopes of competing for a West Central Conference championship.  The Cadets are led by senior Bailey Blackburn, a 6-foot 185 pound C/RHP.  As a Junior Blackburn hit .293 with 4 2B, 1 HR and 20 RBI.  On the mound the righty was 4-3 with a 4.11 ERA.  Fellow senior RHP Sean Bayse is expected to contribute on the mound. In 2013 the righty went 3-6.  Four Juniors are expected to make a big impact this spring.  OF/RHP Ty Comer will contribute offensively.  Last season as a sophomore Comer hit .366 with 14 RBI and 9 2Bs. 3B/RHP Sayer Donovan returns after hitting .288 with 6 2B in 2013.  Donovan should also see time on the mound; as a sophomore the righty was 1-2 with a 4.73 ERA. 1B/RHP Landon Montgomery will be looked upon to drive in runs after knocking in 19 in 2013 with a .284 BA.  SS Schuyler Hart will lead things up the middle defensively for the Cadets.  The 6-foot-1 165 pound SS hit .254 with 5 RBI as a sophomore.
