As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

TOP PLAYERS:

Derek Gribler, RHP/SS, 2015 ... Anchor of the infield at short and expected to be ace of the staff. 2nd-team All-State for D-IV as a sophomore for his work as a shortstop. Also is a switch hitter expected to be top offensive player.
Connor Murney, C, 2014 ... 4-year starter on varsity at catcher. Expected to be strong behind the plate and expected by coaching staff to garner postseason awards. Committed to Olivet.
Bradley Beeching, IF/RHP, 2014 ... Steady player on varsity the last three seasons and expected to have a solid season as the number two on the staff. Can play any position, infield and outfield.
Matt Cammire, IF/RHP, 2015 ... Will be the number three pitcher and used at first. Will also be a backup shortstop. All-Conference 2013 and will hit 3-hole 2014.
Matt Schuman, CF, 2014 ... Solid defensive outfielder with above average speed. Expected to lead off and was All-Conference Honorable Mention. Dislocated elbow last year, but is completely healed now.
Jared Frank, 1B/DH, 2015 ... Big, strong guy. Hit in the 5-hole last season and was honorable mention All-Conference last two seasons.

Jacob Alburtus, CF, 2016 

OUTLOOK:

Lawrence had a solid 2013 and expects to compete for a conference title. They return the large majority of their key contributors from a team that went 21-8-1 a season ago. Though they have the smallest enrollment in conference, they have solid talent as many of their starters have received All-Conference honors. Lawrence will certainly be a team to look out for in both their conference and at their division at the state level.
