OUTLOOK:

In 2013, Newark Catholic captured the school's seventh state championship in baseball. While few know this fact, that victory ties Cincinnati Moeller for the second most titles in OHSAA history. In total, Coach Cannizzaro has coached five state championship teams. And, this year, the Green Wave will be going for number eight in the program's history. From year to year, Newark Catholic always seems to lose key players, but find ways to replace them and keep on winning. This year, the biggest question comes on the mound due to the departure of Mitch Cox, who now plays at Ashland. Senior Sean Thomas and junior Gabe Morris figure to replace Cox in the rotation while senior Hunter Nance and junior Rob Engle will be counted on to anchor the defense up the middle.
