2015 MLB Drafte Recap

The Major League Baseball draft ran from June 8th, 2015 – June 11th, 2015. There were four Arkansas High School players taken. Here is a rundown on those four and a look at other Arkansans that were picked taken in the draft as well.

2015

Gray Fenter is hard throwing RHP that attended West Memphis HS. Fenter works off his fastball 92-96 mph and throws a sharp slider to compliment the fastball. He was selected in the 7th round by the Baltimore Orioles with the 225th pick overall. Fenter is committed to Mississippi State, if he decides to pass on professional baseball at this point in time.

Daniel Sprinkle was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 15th round with the 454th pick overall. Sprinkle is a 6-foot-4 230-pound physical right hander with a heavy fastball that works 90-93 mph from White Hall HS. He throws a change up and curveball as his secondary pitches. His changeup is thrown at near fastball arm speed with some run. The curveball is a work in progress at this point in time. Sprinkle is committed to Auburn.

John Boushelle is projectable RHP that attended Fayetteville HS. He was selected by Los Angeles Dodges in the 20th round with the 612th overall pick. With a 6-foot-6 frame and a clean arm action Boushelle projects for his best baseball to be ahead of him. This spring he worked off an 85-88 mph fastball and backed it up with curveball thrown with near fastball arm speed with depth. He has good command and understands how to pitch as he adds weight the velocity will make a jump. If he does not sign Boushelle is committed to playing at Kansas State.

Andy Pagnozzi was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 36th round with the 1067th overall pick. The Ole Miss recruit is a 6-foot 185-pound RHP with advance pitchability. He locates his fastball 85-88 mph on both sides of the plate. Besides being able to locate the fastball he locates a change up, curveball and slider for counts in any counts.

Other Arkansans

RHP Trey Killian was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 9th round with 257th pick. Killian currently is a junior at Arkansas. He is a native of Mountain Home, AR and attended Mountain Home HS.

RHP Ethan Clark was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 15th round with the 448th pick. Clark just finished playing at Crowder College and is committed to Arkansas. He is a native of Greenwood, AR and attended Greenwood HS.

C Stuart Levy was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 27th round with 823rd pick. He graduated from Benton HS in 2011. He played 4 years collegiately at Arkansas State.

1B Zach George was drafted in the 35th round with 1057th overall pick. George is from Paragould, AR and attended Greene County Tech HS. He just finished up an impressive collegiate career at Arkansas State.
