2015 Team Preview: Oakville A’s 15u

Team Name: Oakville A’s 15u
Head Name: John Holloway
2015 Record: 7-16
League: Elite Baseball League of Ontario (EBLO)

Team Strengths: Will have plenty of leadership with key players taking a role on the team to welcome new faces to the program. Speed and defense will be at the forefront and lead the way, along with depth at the pitching staff that should be able to handle a heavy workload when getting deep into tournaments or consecutive games during the week or weekends.

Weaknesses of Team: Do not have the big power bats in the middle of the lineup and lack in the size department on paper. That said, it will be a scrappy team who look to do the small things right and compete every game.

Coach Outlook: “With 9 new players in what will be the 15u teams first season in the EBLO, it will be a challenge for the players and staff. However, this team will work extremely hard and compete every game.”

Top Prospects in Class of 2018:

  • Riley Keenan, RHP - Commands pitches, fills the zone
  • Daniel Freeman, SS/RHP - Will play role defensively and see time on the mound
  • Alex Robinson, 3B, RHP - Runs well and will count on his bat offensively
  • Connor MacDowell, OF/LHP - Another burner, will be a force offensively
  • Christian Bachoumis, OF/LHP - Arm works, will hit and is solid defensively
  • Owen Coleman, OF/LHP - Plus defensively, runs and will be counted on to contribute on the mound.

Rivalry Game:

  • Vaughan Vikings

General Notes: Oakville will play their first season in the new EBLO as a 15u team coached by John Holloway. With 9 new players in the mix, it may take some time for everyone get used to each other, but leadership will be a key factor in getting everyone comfortable and on the same page. Oakville will be a scrappy team that relies on their speed, defense, and pitching depth that has a number of lefties on the mound.
