2016 Players Flying Under The Radar

By: Zac Bottoms

Prep Baseball Report has recently released our updated 2016 rankings. Arkansas had five players listed in them; Luke Bandy, Evan Lee, Kasey Ford, Luke Price, and Dylon Thompson. Today we are going to look five 2016 grads that may be flying under the radar.

J. Paul Fullerton, C, Harding Academy
The athletic built catcher throws 1.93-1.97 pop time. He blocks and receives well. If he would work more linear his footwork would improve. Offensively Fullerton is a left-handed hitting catcher that has a line drive swing that is compact. His lower half drags behind, if he would fire his backside through I believe he would show better exit velocity. At this point in time the best exit velocity I have for him is 78 mph. The tools are solid but the intangibles seem to better as he commands the game well and has a high motor.

Ryan Hunter, MIF/OF, Maumelle HS
The 5 foot 10 160 pound outfielder, showed off his offensively skill set during his batting practice. Hunter starts from a closed stance mechanically his hand path and balance is well above average for a hitter his age. The lower half never gets online after starting closed. In the other areas we tested he did well, running a 7.10 in the 60 and velocity readings from the outfield were 76-79 mph.

Blake Wynne, MIF/RHP, Star City HS
The 6-foot 160 pound INF/RHP had good defensive actions with a good exchange. He was consistently 83 mph across the infield, offensively he has a good bat speed registering an 83 mph during exit velocity testing. Wynne starts from an open stance and has a line drive swing. He is another dual player. He looked good on the mound working off his fastball 80-84. He threw is curveball for strikes. His curveball was 64-66 with 10/4 shape, but lacked depth. His change up was good with fastball arm speed and arm-side run.

Cade Canada, RHP, White Hall HS,
Canada is a 6-foot-4 200- pound RHP, with good pitchabilty. He located his fastball 79-81 mph on both sides of the plate. His curveball is a weapon thrown at66-68 mph with sharp 12/6 action. Mechanically is arm action is short and his rhythm is a little choppy. He does show signs that he can throw harder if he clean up a few things. He has a distinct balance point and pretty effortless delivery.

Harrison Rutledge, MIF, Maumelle HS
Rutledge is a 6-foot, 160-pound middle infielder. He shows good athleticism running a 6.9 sixty. Defensively he possess a loose arm and fluid exchange. Harrison plays through the baseball with good footwork. Offensively, He is a raw hitter that out athletes balls and finds barrel on a consistent basis. He registered 81 mph during exit speed testing
