2016 Uncommitted Prospects: Outfielders

As the summer kicks off and all eyes turn to the 2016 class we look at the top available players in this class position by position. Here is a look at the top 5 uncommitted outfielders.

Luke Price, OF, Dover HS
Price is a 6-foot-2 195-pound outfielder with a large frame and a physical build. Athletically he is above average running a 6.86 in the 60 and 4.1 home to first. Defensively he gets good reads of the bat and plays through the baseball. He has an average arm throwing 83 mph from the outfield. Offensively he uses his strength to power balls out of the ball park to the pull side. He has fast bats speed with an uphill swing. He maintains balance through extension. If there is a critique I would like to stay in his hips longer and correct his hip slide. Overall Price is a good dual sport athlete and if he chooses to concentrate on baseball he could be a very good collegiate player.

Colten Nix, OF, Benton HS
Nix is a 6-foot-1 205-pound outfielder with a large frame and an athletic build. Offensively one of the more polished hitters in the state. He starts from an athletic stance transitioning with a smooth load. He attacks the ball with a compact swing with fast bat speed. He shows the ability to hit doubles to both gaps. Defensively he makes good reads on the balls in the air, working through the ball to a throw. He runs well running a 6.81 in the 60. Overall Nix is an advanced hitter who has all the tools needed to compete at a high level collegiately

Ryan Hunter, OF, Maumelle HS
Hunter is a 5-foot-9 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder with an athletic frame and build. Defensively he makes great reads on balls in the air showing the ability from centerfield to play balls gap to gap. Offensively he has a short compact line drive swing with fast bat speed. He produced exit velocities up to 86 mph at Arkansas Top Prospects Games. The left-handed hitter has an advanced approach understanding how to hit balls to all fields. Athletically he sound, with first step quickness but not elite speed in the 60 running a 7.19. Overall Hunter is a good baseball player, as he continues to add strength and develop he will be a good collegiate player.

Darien Burns, OF, Hamburg HS
Burns is a 6-foot-1 180-pound, left-handed outfielder with a medium frame and a physical build. He runs a 7.18 in the 60 and a 4.2 home to first. Offensively he starts from an open swing diving back into the plate. He gets online and attacks the baseball with fast bat speed with an uphill swing plane. He has the ability to hit the ball to both gaps with doubles power. Defensively he is sound with solid first step movement and an accurate arm. Overall Burns is an advanced hitter, with some rawness to his game, as he is exposed to better baseball on a consistent baseball he will be a good collegiate player.

Caleb Carr, OF, White Hall HS
Carr is a 5-foot-11 180-pound left-handed outfielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. Offensively he has a short line drive swing with fast bat speed producing exit velocities up to 88 mph at Arkansas Top Prospects Games. Defensively he sound working through the baseball with an accurate arm throwing 82 mph from the outfield. Physical tools Carr is above average with sound physical strength and he runs a 6.98 in the 60. Overall Carr is a solid baseball player, above average at all phases of the game, with a workman approach to the game.
