Outlook
The Panthers look to build off of last season, finishing 4-2 in their final six regular season games before running into a talented Bohemia Manor squad in their first match-up of the playoffs last year. This year Perryville returns a majority of their roster from that team and they hope to get into the top half of the standings to better position themselves for tough section I in the 1A East. Leading the offense for the Panthers will be returning All-County performer Mike Newsome after hitting over .400 in 2017. Newsome led or tied for the lead for the Panthers in hits, Runs Batted In, and extra base hits. Also leading the way offesnively for the Panthers will be Matt O'Neill, who hit over .350 on the year for the Panthers as well. together they will form the heart of the Perryville offense and will need Hunter Zacerous, Seth Bolton and Justin Eldreth to build off their seasons of last year to play bigger roles on the offensive end. On the mound Newsome will again be a top arm for the squad as the Panthers will have to replace over 70 innings on the mound after the graduation of three seniors. Look for 2020 Tyler Nasuta to play a bigger role on the mound as well as O'Neill.
