2018 Rankings Breakdown: LHP

After a busy winter we have released updated 2018 rankings. As the week moves forward we will look at the top players at each position. Today we take a look at the reports on the left-handed pitchers in the 2018 class.

Evan Hiatt, LHP, Catholic HS
Hiatt is a 6-foot-1 180-pound left-hander with a large frame and an average build. He works from an H ¾ arm slot with a loose quick arm action. His mechanics are repeated consistently with little effort. He command his fastball at 85-87 mph with late sink. He throws a power curveball with fastball arm speed at 73-77 mph with 1/7 shape. He throws a changeup consistently for strikes with fastball arm speed 75-78 mph with arm side run. Overall Hiatt is an advanced left-hander with tremendous upside, as he shows the arm speed to throw a power breaking ball with a clean arm action.

Hiatt is the No.2 ranked player in the 2018 class rankings and is ranked 82 nationally, 11th ranked left-handed pitcher. He is committed to Arkansas.

Kaleb Hill, LHP, Watson Chapel HS
Hill is a 6-foot-4 left-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. He pitches from a  H 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm. He has a slight pause in his arm action, leading to some added deception. He uses a simple repeated delivery. He does not use a distinct balance point which causes his arm to lag behind at times. His fastball works 83-86 mph and shown the ability to throw up to 88 mph. He throws a curveball and changeup as his secondary pitches with limited command. Overall Hill has a very projectable frame and arm action. He projects to throw hard in the near future.

Hill is the No. 4 ranked player in the 2018 class rankings and is ranked 89 nationally, 12th ranked left-handed pitcher. He is committed Ole Miss.

Hank Hannah, LHP, Catholic HS
Hannah is a 6-foot 150-pound left-hander with an athletic frame and build. He pitches from a H ¾ arm slot with a quick arm. His fastball works 82-85 mph with late arm-side run. He compliments his fastball with 1/7 curveball thrown 72-74 mph with solid action and depth. He repeats his simple delivery with rushed rhythm. Overall Hannah has a quick arm with and swing and miss stuff, as he adds strength he should add velocity.

Hannah is the No. 9 ranked player in the 2018 class rankings and is committed to Arkansas.

Jordan Wicks, LHP, Conway HS
Wicks is 6-foot-1 180 pound left-hander with a large frame and an athletic build.  He works from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick clean arm. He has smooth rhythm and good extension. His fastball is thrown 83-85mph with arm-side run and has been up to 86 mph . He commands a curveball with 1/7 action thrown at 73 mph. His changeup is thrown 71-74 mph with arm-side run. Wicks is a polished pitcher, with the ability to command three pitches for a strikes on a consistent basis

Wicks is the No. 11 ranked player in the 2018 class rankings and is committed to Arkansas State.

Greyson Stevens, LHP, Pottsville HS
Stevens is a 6-foot-2 160-pound left-hander with an athletic frame and a thin build. He pitches from a H ¾ arm slot with a quick clean arm. He repeats his tall and fall delivery, with late hand separation. His fastball works 76-79 mph down in the strike zone. His curveball has early break 65-68 mph which he locates for strikes. He also commanded a change up 69-71 mph with arm side run. Overall Stevens has a projectable loose arm with a feel to pitch, as he adds strength he will throw harder.

Stevens is the 64th ranked player in the 2018 class rankings and is currently uncommitted.
