2019 PBR Future Games - Team NV vs Team AZ Final Day

Buddy Gouldsmith
Nevada Scouting Director

Team Nevada competed the tour of its first ever PBR Future Games participation on Saturday. The four-day event drew to a close with a game versus Team Arizona. Nevada starter, ’21 Matthew Sigafoos (Damonte Ranch) sat 83-84 in is second outing of the event with a 73-74 breaking ball. Sigafoos fell prey to a few defensive miscues but showed poise in minimizing the damage, surrendering just one run in back to back innings. ’21 Tanner McDougal (Silverado0 continued to impress on lookers topping out at 88 in his first inning of work. ’22 Payton Riske (Bishop Gorman) and ’21 Joey Adge (Del Campo) finished out the game. Offensively, ’22 Tai Nguyen (Bishop Gorman) and ’21 Jace Avina (Spanish Springs) doubled down the left field line in the contest and ’21 Callan Hermansen doubled as well. Centerfielder, ’22 Grayson Grinsell garnered the attention of scouts all week with his play and made quality contact throughout the final game left on left and was rewarded, tripling in his final at bat and posting 4.25 on the turn. Defensively, ’22 Parker Vint (Coronado) flashed leather all week, making countless plays at third base, including slow rollers and diving stops. PBR Nevada takes a closer look at the performance of Grinsell and Vint below.

’22 Grayson Grinsell, OF (Reno)

Projectable, 6-foot, 150, Grinsell is “gumby” like with loose, flexible actions. He throws from a ¾ slot with solid carry from the outfield and a long arm draw. At the plate, He has a naturalness with whip in his bat, providing sneaky power. This is a potential multi-plus tool type player down the road with a high ceiling. He made consistent quality contact left on left as well as versus right handed pitching. Grinsell may not be on the board long after his performance this past week.

’22 Parker Vint, 3B (Coronado)

Sturdy, 6-foot-2 185, Vint showed glove skills that will likely make him a high school shortstop. He runs well for his size (6.9 60-yard dash) and size and strength gains may push him to the ‘hot corner”, where he has the makings of an elite defender. Although he did not have much to show for some good at bats, his bat to ball skills are present. He showed well in leverage counts, flashing pull side power and make no mistake there are plenty of hits in his future.
