2019 Middle Infielders
December 4, 2017
Headed into the winter off-season, but with the spring just around the corner, In the Weeds will be highlighting some uncommitted, undervalued players in the 2019 class in coming installments. The most common questions posed to the PBR staff, now that signing day has passed, is “what good 2019 players do you know about?” With a different theme/position being covered each week, recruiters will want to get their notebooks out, and start writing down the names of players who could provide some help to their programs in the future. This week, eight middle infielders are highlighted as potential contributors at some level in college.
Cameron Frederick SS / 2B / Lincoln Southwest, NE / 2019Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 3
Frederick’s broad-shouldered and athletic, 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame moves with ease from side to side on the infield. His speed (6.81 60-yard dash) is already a weapon, and with the twitchy actions that he has at the plate and in the field, I would expect it to get even better in the future. Possessing a stronger, 84 mph arm across the diamond, Frederick has little trouble quickly releasing accurate throws with the flick of his wrist. He has confident hands that are quick when reacting to different hops, and his athleticism allows him to make throws from all angles. At the plate, Frederick shows off quick hands that load down and back with a leg kick before level to uphill through the zone with some lag. Playing in Nebraska with more limited at-bats and games against higher level competition, Frederick will be able to make a jump in college when he gains more experience. |
