We continue our positional analysis from the 2020-2021 Prospect Showcase with a look at the outfielders in attendance.

Outfielders

Bryce Blondell, OF, Elkhart Memorial HS, 2021

60 Time: 7.98 , Position Velocity: OF-72, Exit Velocity: 82. 5-foot-11, 165 pound freshman outfielder works from a squatty setup from the right side, long path to the baseball, driving pull side with lift. Average bat speed for age, uses good balance and base to load and start swing. Hands drift away and get long to enter the zone with the barrel working flat off the back shoulder, late at time to contact. Shoulders and upper half work uphill out of the zone to pull the baseball with lift to left side, average lower half. Good extension out front when on time. Corner outfielder, high arm action delivered accurate throws to bases. More footspeed and arm strength to be developed. Average hands and footwork to throw, exchange is clean.

Cam Clark, SS/OF, Cathedral HS, 2020

10/14/17: 60 Time: 7.62 , Position Velocity: INF-81, OF-79, Exit Velocity: 68. 5-foot-8, 145 pound sophomore uses aggressive approach from the right side of the plate, using line drive level swing to the pull side. Twitchy, big movements to load with a toe tap to stride, heavy on the front side to swing at contact, small arm bar to enter hitting zone. Feet and finish is inconsistent, often falling towards the plate, lacks ability to hold base and finish through the baseball with extension. Feet flat in the outfield to field, more play through the baseball. Stands tall to throw with OT arm action, clean transfer, travels with the baseball to release. Projects more in the infield.

60 Time: 7.37, Position Velocity: INF-72, OF-82, Exit Velocity: 86. 6-foot-3, 200 pound sophomore outfielder works from tall and narrow setup to big stride and swing, producing pull side bat speed. Barrel and hands load away from the back shoulder, barrel getting outside the frame before sweeping and entering the zone. Long, uphill bat path producing loud contact to the pull side with some power. Lower half is stiff with partial rotation through the swing. Corner outfielder, big delivery with long arm action, high arm slot. Max effort and tempo to throw, works well through the baseball, exchange clean and quick. Carry on the baseball, accurate to base.

Cade Kantz, OF/2B, Carmel HS, 2020

60 Time: 7.35, Position Velocity: INF-62, OF-72, Exit Velocity: 80. 5-foot-7, 145 pound sophomore outfielder uses short, athletic actions at the plate, producing consistent barrels to all fields. Athletic and balanced setup, creates good barrel tilt in load with small separation in swing. Level bat path with good extension through the zone, head stays stacked over the back knee and center of body at contact. Good rhythm and balance throughout. Quick first step, with average speed and routes to the baseball, plays low to the ground. Good direction through the baseball, high arm action to throw, average carry to the base with below average arm strength.

Cooper Noel, SS/OF, Monrovia HS, 2020

60 Time: 7.27, Position Velocity: INF-78,OF-83, Exit Velocity: 81. 5-foot-8, 150 pound sophomore uses aggressive, max effort approach from the left side, flashing athleticism and quick barrel turn in swing. Tall and narrow to start, with smooth load and stride to wide base, lower half is athletic and active, weight shift and head movement to swing. Long, level bat path through the hitting zone, looks to pull the baseball. Average bat speed. Athletic in the field, max effort crow-hop in the outfield with long arm action to throw. Shows some twitch and arm strength from the outfield, delivered throws with accuracy.

Jonathan Sabotnik, OF, Crown Point HS, 2020

60 Time: 7.65, Position Velocity: OF-84, Exit Velocity: 88. 6-foot-1, 170 pound sophomore outfielder showed arm strength and plus bat speed from the left side with long projectable frame. Loose, athletic swing, works tall and slightly open setup with good rhythm and fluid load to swing. Creates good barrel tilt with hands prior to swing, lands athletic and balanced after stride. Average lower half with plus bat speed, line drive with lift, head and shoulders topple through contact and extension. More strength in lower half, potential power swing. Athletic defender in the outfield, good range and instincts. Long, loose high arm action, average arm strength and carry. Footwork was flat and heavy, more foot speed to be developed.

Jasper Suiter, OF, Lawrence North HS, 2020

60 Time: 7.21, Position Velocity: OF-80, Exit Velocity: 74. 6-foot-1, 170 pound sophomore outfielder uses tall setup from the right side, producing level contact swings to the pull side. Simple toe tap load to start stride and swing, hands stay neutral off the back shoulder, no separation created. Hands stay short to the baseball with average bat speed and balance throughout, lower half uses partial rotation through contact with choppy rhythm. Corner outfielder with good frame, max effort to throw with average arm strength and carry to bases. Footwork is heavy, clean exchange with average hands out front to field and throw.

Zach Zaborowski, RHP/OF, Westfield HS, 2020

60 Time: 7.84, Position Velocity: OF-84, Exit Velocity: 82. 5-foot-10, 180 pound sophomore uses short, compact swing from the right side with average bat speed. Lower half is stiff with choppy rhythm. Level line drive swing to all fields. Corner outfielder with arm strength and good carry to each base. High  arm action with effort, better footwork and foot speed to be developed.
