2020 Games: Standouts

The NY 2020 Games is now in the books after a long, but successful day at Gutchess Sports Complex, in Cortland, NY. Over 70 players, from Buffalo to Long Island (even one from NJ) made their way to central NY to showoff their on-field skills. Over 30 college coaches attended the one-day event filled with uncommitted 2020 graduates from all over the state. Several players impressed during the two session event, below are a few of those players that turned heads. 

Brendan Tierney OF / RHP / John S. Burke Catholic, NY / 2020

The lean athletic OF was all over the field during the 2020 Uncommitted games. Tierney stands in at 5-foot-10, 155 pounds. The speedy OF ran a 6.8 in the 60-yard dash and threw 84 from the OF. At the plate, Tierney has fast-twitch actions with pop from his lean frame. Top exit velocity was 86 MPH. 

 

 


Brett Myers SS / 2B / Lowville Academy, NY / 2020

Myers was an easy standout during the 2020 Uncommitted games. Myers has a projectable frame standing in at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds The left hitting INF continues to swing the bat. Impressive BP round, showing a smooth flat barrel path through the hitting zone and pop to the pull side. Defensively, Myers was impressive making the routine play and couple nice plays during the game. Myers ran a 6.88 in the 60 yard dash. The 2020 INF is athletic enough to play any of the infield position. 

 

 


Dalton Maxon RHP / OF / Tamarac , NY / 2020

The physical 6-foot-3, 200 pounds RHP was a standout during his outing at the NY Uncommitted Games. The big RHP showed plus command of a heavy FB topping out at 87 MPH. CB is sharp ranging 70-72 MPH. Maxon has a high ceiling. 

 

 


Michael Taylor LHP / OF / Eastchester , NY / 2020

The 5-foot-9, 155 pound LHP has a lean athletic frame. Taylor displayed a low effort repeatable delivery during with a projectable live arm. The LHP peaked with an 81 MPH FB in which he worked to both sides of the plate. The CB is an above-average pitch at 68-70 MPH. Taylor comes right after you and gets a ton of swing and misses. Taylor should add some velocity as he continues to develop. 

 


Patrick Reilly RHP / OF / South Colonie, NY / 2020

The 6-foot-1, 165 pounds RHP has a projectable long lean frame. Worked down in the zone with his FB at 82-83 MPH and a plus SL at 74-76 MPH. Reilly has a frame that will add size and strength which should increase all his measurables. 

 

 


Jake Garcia SS / RHP / Manhattan Center , NY / 2020

Garcia stands in at 5-foot-7, 145 pounds. Impressive performance during the showcase and in-game action. Offensively, simple hitting actions, fast twitch player. Profiles as a top of the lineup player. Defensively, Garcia displayed active footwork, low effort actions, and projects to play in the middle of the infield at the college level. On the mound, the RHP displayed is a live arm. FB peaked at 83 MPH and showed an above average CB 64-65 MPH. 


 

 

 


Mason Davis C / 3B / Clarence , NY / 2020

A physical C with a projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds. Davis had an impressive BP making hard consistent contact and working with a short compact swing. In the game, Davis was aggressive and hit a hard line drive base hit on a good pitch. Defensively, Davis back picked a runner on first showing his quick release. Best pop time on the day was 2.16 and 75 MPH from behind the dish. Mason has upside that projects to help make an impact both defensively and offensively at the college level.

 


Erik Charnetski OF / C / Elmira-Notre Dame , NY / 2020

The 2020 graduate has a physical projectable frame at 5-foot-11, 200 pounds. Charnetski was impressive with his performance at the plate. Charnetski made hard consistent contact the whole day. Impressive at bats in live game action and the most impressive BP on the day. Top exit velocity was 88 MPH.

 


Joe Reitebach RHP / Hamburg, NY / 2020

Reitebach is a big strong projectable RHP standing in at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds. The RHP displayed repeatable mechanics and a live arm. Reitebach worked two impressive innings going after hitters with his live FB. FB peaked at 85 MPH with late cut and CB at 69-70 MPH. 

 

 


Jacob LaFountain RHP / SS / Mechanicville, NY / 2020

LaFountain stands in with a physical build at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds. At the plate, LaFountain showed off his bat speed during BP with an impressive round. Top exit velocity was 90 MPH. On the mound, the RHP showed feel for all three pitches. FB was down a couple of ticks ranging 83-84 MPH. Earlier in the summer, LaFountain was the mid to upper 80’s. Showed feel for a Slider ranging from 72-74 MPH and a plus CH 75-76 MPH. 

 


Jarod Abram RHP / 1B / Governor Livingston, NJ / 2020

The physical 6-foot-3, 227 pounds RHP from New Jersey made a quick but impressive impact in the NY Uncommitted Games. Jarod pounded the zone with his FB which peak at 85 MPH. The CB was sharp and projects to be a plus pitch ranging from 70-72 MPH.  Showed feel for a CH at 77 MPH. The Jersey native has a projectable live arm.
