Blake Davis
State Director

After last weeks release of Prep Baseball Report's High School National 2020 Rankings and this weeks release of the PBR Draft HQ's 2020 Draft Board it is a good time to start highlighting PBR Georgia's 2020 Rankings from 60-1. Today we focus on number 30 all the way to 21, this will be a good list of players and will give all the Georgia baseball fans insight into what games are can't miss this Spring around the State.

30. Miles Garrett, RHP, Parkview HS, (Vanderbilt)

29. Dylan Strickland, SS, Loganville HS, (Georgia Tech)

28. LuJames Groover III, SS, The Walker School, (Charlotte)

9/03/19

UNC-Charlotte commit. 6-foot-2, 190 pounds; very athletic frame. Had a huge weekend offensively and defensively. At the plate, showed fast hands with a very whippy bat. Did not see Groover make many outs; had one home-run over LF wall. Keeps head on ball and looks to drive to the OF. Very impressive approach and strike-zone awareness. Defensively, has very fluid actions. Made plays on the move with ease; ranged up-the-middle on a couple plays and made accurate throws from low arm-slot. Also showed ability to make difficult play on the move. Feet and glove really work. Very advanced player.

27. Hank Bearden, RHP, Northwest Whitfield HS, (Georgia)

2020 Georgia commit Hank Bearden (DRB/Northwest Whitfield) turned in one of the more dominating performances in the tournament so far. Over three innings of work, he recorded six strikeouts, didn’t give up a hit, and walked two batters. His stuff is firm, with his fastball sitting 86-88 out of the gate, and 85-86 in his last inning. While he showed good command with the heater, it’s his breaking ball that made him so effective. Bearden throws it whenever he wants, on either side of the plate, it’s got tight action early, causing a lot of hitters to buckle. He’s not afraid to throw it right at the right-handed hitter, and it breaks onto the plate, just enough where the hitters can’t do much.

26. Max Dejong, RHP, Hillgrove HS, (Georgia)

This medium-framed righty committed to Georgia has been on fire out of the gate. He commands the ball to both side of the plate out of his high overhand slot. His fastball sits in the 86-90 range and gets good angle down in the zone. His curveball is a true 12-6 pitch because of his arm slot and DeJong shows the ability to land it for quality strikes, and finish off hitters by burying in front of the zone for swings and misses. This kid has competed well in both outings at LakePoint and is going to make Dawgs fans happy, as he has all the makings of a weekend starter early in his career.

25. Patrick Holloman, LHP, Ola HS, (Georgia)

A long and lean left-hander for the Georgia Jackets was excellent out of the pen in his inning of work. It’s a loose delivery with arm speed and a repeatable 3/4 slot. He was all over the strike zone with a fastball that was comfortably 88-90 mph. He spun a couple curveballs with 1/7 shape and decent break. Holloman is a Georgia commit with upside who will be a must watch during the rest of the tournament.

24. Nate McCollum, OF, Eagle's Landing, (Georgia Tech)

McCollum is a live bodied Duel-Sport athlete from Eagle's Landing.  The compact and strong right-handed hitting outfielder can really turn on the jets and has promising bat-speed as well.  originally committed to North Carolina State, McCollum has decided to say home and is now set to attend Georgia Tech to Football and Baseball next year.

23. Zander Sechrist, LHP, Flowery Branch HS, (Tennessee)

22. John Marant, OF, Sandy Creek HS, (Georgia Tech)

Marant has an impressive frame at 6-foot-5, 200-pounds.  He posses a strong tool set as an outfielder with projection still left to everything he does.  Marant will need to refine his approach, but is blessed with a serious set of unteachable skills.

21. Brad Grenkoski, RHP/OF, Kell HS, (Georgia Tech)
