2020 Georgia Rankings (40 through 31)

Blake Davis
State Director

After last weeks release of Prep Baseball Report's High School National 2020 Rankings and this weeks release of the PBR Draft HQ's 2020 Draft Board it is a good time to start highlighting PBR Georgia's 2020 Rankings from 60-1. Today we focus on number 40 all the way to 31, this will be a good list of players and will give all the Georgia baseball fans insight into what games are can't miss this Spring around the State.

36. Darryl Buggs, OF, Heritage HS, (Alabama-Birmingham)

Uncommitted 2020 OF Darryl Buggs (DRB/Heritage) adds to the list of yet another DRB player who flat out balls. At 6-1, 170 pounds, he doesn’t look overly big on the field, but he’s twitchy, shows bat speed, and is constantly hunting for extra bases. If you’re on defense, it’s nerve wracking having him on the basepaths, having to constantly make sure he stops his feet. He’s dangerous when he gets on base, and with the combination of his plate discipline and speed, headaches happen quite often against him.

5/28/19
At 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, Paden’s size does not tell the whole story. Paden has proven to be an elite competitor and it was apparent on this day also. He is aggressive with all three of his pitches, and he’s able to repeat well and execute his arsenal effectively and consistently. Paden’s high ¾ slot allows his arm to work loose and free. His fastball topped out at 89 mph, and with more in tank, and its on its way, due to his hand-speed and athleticism. His curveball has shape to it at 76-77 mph. Also is located a change-up with late fade. This athletic two-way player still has upside even though he is not large in stature. His lack of fear and willingness to challenge hitters is a separator for him going forward.

4/20/19

Compact bodied right-handed hitting catcher with pull power.  Headsy kid that has compact sudden actions behind the plate.  Future 2-way catcher at the next level with a high baseball IQ.

9/16/19

The tall, wiry Johnson continues to show the arm strength, pushing his fastball up to 91 mph. The Georgia Southern commit has a very projectable 6-foot-4 frame with good hand-speed, and even more velocity coming over the next year. Johnson will have to show more breaking ball feel by draft time in order to boost his pro profile, but there his size, build, and arm strength make it easy to find the upside.

31. Dalton Pearson, OF, Johns Creek HS, (Georgia State)

3/16/19

Young right handed hitting OF who recently transferred into Johns Creek HS.  Bat-speed and rhythm are apparent right away.  Will have to answer some profile questions in the future, but definitely a good next level player in the future.
