2020 PBR Future Games: Game 1 Recap

GAME RECAP 

EMERSON, G.A. - Team Texas picked up their first win of the 2020 PBR Future Games with a 5-1 win over Team Alabama.Texas came out of the gates with two runs in the 1st inning that was led by a triple to RCF by 2022 OF Carson Queck that one-hooped the wall, with a recorded exit velo 93 mph per Trackman. 

The team as a whole had 6 extra-base hits on the day including a solo home run from 2023 UTL Blake Peterson that went 335 ft to LF.

C Rashawn Galloway
(2022), C Matthew Houston (2022) , IF Jonathon Gonzales (2022), and 2023 OF Ben Merriman all also had extra-base hits, while Merriman and Houston had an RBI each. 2022 OF Trey Duffield also had a strong day at the plate collecting two hits on the day. 



SCOUT NOTES 

Laws got the start and went 4 IP striking out three. He was sitting 84-87 mph, bumping a few 88 mph. Also had a curveball that was 76-78 mph that had late, sharp action with depth and a changeup that was 80 mph with arm-side fade. Laws had good command of all three pitches. 
In relief of Laws was 2022 RHP Thomas Marquardt. Marquardt went 3 IP with 4 strikeouts, sitting 84-87 T88 mph with an 81-83 mph slider with late action, changeup with arm-side action at 81 mph and a curveball at 73-74 mph. He commanded his fastball and slider well to both sides.
