JFG TRIALS - 2020 PLAYER ANALYSIS

Coby Buck C / 3B / Westwood, SC / 2020Medium build and sturdy lower half. Room for additional maturation and development in the upper body. Slightly open stance and soft stride back to parallel. Short hand load turns the barrel slightly at foot strike. Bat falls onto plane with a lofted path. Showed tendencies of getting into and out of the zone quickly. Avg glove skills, works well on balls at and around the zone. Inconsistent with pitches at the edge of the zone.

Seth McElveen 3B / RHP / Lugoff-Elgin, SC / 20205-11, 180lb athletic build with strong lower half. Aggressive load with a medium/high leg kick. Low line drive bat path produced a round of line drives in the middle of the field. Flashed the ability to lag the barrel and release through contact with gap to gap power as a result. Simple fielding technique with disconnect at times. Longer arm action and OTT release, took some time to get the ball out.

Zack Reynolds RHP / OF / Lugoff /Elgin, SC / 20205-8, 165lbs with square shoulders, wide through the torso and proportional limbs. Simple toe/tap stride and flat bat path. Muscled the barrel through contact, cutting himself off with his top hand at times. Sprayed line drives to all fields. Powerful pro step in the OF and a quick exchange produced accurate throws with above avg carry. Medium rocker step into a higher balance point. Linear delivery with a deep stab on the back side and full arm action. H3Q release produced FB with fade and SL with 10/4 shape and flashes of late bite.

Braxton Elms RHP / 1B / Lewisville, SC / 2020Rankings StateRank: 46 / POS: 16
Broad shoulders and durable frame with developed strength in the lower half. Frame suggests he may be close to maximum development. Moderate effort in the delivery with a full arm action on the backside and good extension out front. Lands slightly open of his line. FB & SL having matching arm speed and slot with the SL have late bite at times and 11/5 shape at its best. Feel for a CH with fade.

Edwin Olmeda Jr OF / Westwood, SC / 2020Rankings StateRank: 108 / POS: 13
Plays to a true 6-2, 197lbs. Prototypical high waisted, next level frame with strength throughout, rounded shoulders, and good body control. (6.86 sixty time) Present athleticism and body give him tons of upside. High stride with a quiet hand load and uphill path generate plenty of fly balls. Showed gap to gap power with the ability to carry balls out to the pull side. Choppy footwork on ground balls in the OF and a longer arm action and transfer. Will need to see a jump in arm strength to reach. the ceiling as an OF.

6-3 192lbs has started to fill out since our last look at him. Athletic build and profile give him a high ceiling. Taller stance with some weight left on the back side at contact. Fluid load gets the hands deep over the back foot. Uphill bat path with gap to gap power. Showed signs of increased power potential during BP rounds. Worked out as a SS with fluid actions and natural skills. Quick hands and good lateral quickness. Slight hitch in the transfer should be an easy fix. (81 mph INF Velo)
