The 2021 PBR Academy World Series opens today, May 6th, with 7 teams competing in the event.  From North Carolina, Pro5 Academy has two teams in the tournament, splitting its roster into a Red team and a Black team.

Below is information on the tournament, the rosters, schedules, and game notes as the tournament continues through the weekend.

+ Pro 5 used a big 5th inning to break the game open, plating 5 to build a 7-1 lead
+ The big inning was aided by 5 walks, 1 HBP, and singles from Grayson Irwin, Jack Starke, and Joshua Bussey

Pro5 Baseball – Black advances to the winner’s bracket game tonight vs. Pro5 Baseball – Red who received a by in round 1.  Game time is slated for 5:30pm

+ The two rosters for Pro5 faced off with one another in the winner’s bracket of the PBR Academy World Series.  Pro5 Red jumped out to a quick lead, scoring 6 in the 1st and 7 in the 2nd, seeing the game ended early with the run rule
+ Zane Taylor (P5 Red) – Win, 3IP, 0H, 0R, 3BB, 4K
+ Ryan Clifford (P5 Red) – 2-3, 2 2B, 1R, 3RBI
+ AJ Shepard (P5 Red) – 1-1, 3B, 3RBI

Pro5 Black moves to the loser's bracket and will face TNXL Academy at 11:15am on Friday.
Pro5 Red moves up in the winner's bracket and will see IMG Performance at 1:30pm on Friday

+ Tied at 4-4 after 4, Pro5 Black pushed the winning run across in the top of the 6th with a homerun off the bat of Freddie Oliver.

+ A big 4th inning held up as two arms combine in a 1-hitter.
+ The 4 run 4th was keyed by a leadoff triple from Chase Nixon, followed by 2 free passes, and then a double from Aaron Smigelski

+ A tight game throughout, Pro5 tied the game at 2 in the 4th only to relinquish the lead in the bottom half for good

+ In the 5th Pro5 added to their lead with a 2 run single from Hunter Zents, scoring Will Marcy and Everett Cooper
+ IMG closed the gap with a 2 run HR in the 6th
