4.10.23 - 4.16.23

‘25 Connor Parry (Sherwood) - The sophomore put together a variety of impressive performances this week. On Wednesday, Parry provided plenty of offense for the Bowmen as he slugged a homerun and drove in three runs. On Friday, he showed out on both sides of the ball. He got the opportunity to toe the rubber, and he hurled a complete game shutout. His final pitching line for the week was 5 IP, 10 Ks, 2 H, 3 BB, 0 R. Parry provided himself with more than enough insurance offensively, adding a pair of doubles and driving in four runs. His final offense stats for the week were 5-for-9 with three doubles, a home run, and seven RBIs.

‘24 Nolan Umlandt (Sherwood) - The Portland recruit also showed his two-way prowess this week during Sherwood’s series against Newberg. Umlandt got the start on Wednesday, allowing just one earned run across six strong innings of work. He struck out 11 while not surrendering a walk. His final line on the mound was 6 IP, 11 Ks, 5 H, 0 BB, 1 ER. His bat came alive during the Friday and Saturday matchups, as he recorded multiple hits in each of those games. During the week, Umlandt went 6-for-10 with a pair of doubles, a triple, seven runs scored, and three RBI.

‘24 Jaxson Bowen (Sherwood) - The junior righty had two pitching performances during the week, with one coming out of the ‘pen. Bowen tossed just one inning of relief in Wednesday’s convincing victory, striking out all three of the batters he faced. Fast forward to Saturday, and Bowen got the start on the mound against Newberg. He was equally impressive during the weekend, as he tossed five shutout innings and allowed just four hits. He was all around the zone, as he punched out eight and did not allow a walk. His final line from the week was 6 IP, 11 Ks, 4 H, 0 BB, 0 R. 

‘24 Luke Haener (Wilsonville) - The 6-foot-5, 220-pound junior played a big role in two of the Wildcat’s victories this past week. In the first game of the series on Tuesday, Haener got the nod on the bump. He tossed a complete game, allowing just 4 opposing hitters to reach base. Haener showed his control, not surrendering a walk and landing over 76% of his pitches for strikes. His final pitching line was 7 IP, 4 K, 4 H, 0 BB, 0 R. On Saturday, he provided plenty of offensive support. He launched a two-run home run early on in the game to set the tone for a 15-0 victory for the Wildcats. He finished the game 2-for-3 with 4 RBI. 

‘25 Niko Leyba (Marist Catholic) - The sophomore put together an impressive week for the Spartans, as he nearly went perfect at the plate. He recorded a hit in his only at-bat on Tuesday, and followed that up by going 5-for-6 in two games on Friday.  Three of those five hits went for extra bases, and Leyba also drove in seven runs in those two games. His final offensive line for the weekend was 6-for-7. In the nightcap on Friday, he also got the opportunity to take the mound. He allowed just 2 earned runs in over six innings of work while punching out 10. His final pitching line for the week was 6.1 IP, 10 Ks, 4 H, 2 BB, 2 ER. 

‘23 Kaden Starr (Marist Catholic) - Starr showed exactly why he is one of the top uncommitted seniors in the region during his performances this past week. Starting on Tuesday, he took a perfect game into the final inning. Unfortunately he fell short, however he was able to toss a complete game, one-hit shutout. His final line on the bump was 7 IP, 11 Ks, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 R. That same day, he put together a strong offensive showing. He added three hits and four RBI. On the week, he batted 6-for-8 with a double, five RBI, and three runs scored.

‘24 Quin Dufort (Ida B. Wells) - The Portland commit commit was almost untouchable in his start on Wednesday against Cleveland. The junior southpaw hurled six innings, not allowing a single earned run. He put his control on display, recording nine strikeouts with over 75% of his pitches landing for strikes. His final line was 6 IP, 9 Ks, 8 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB. 

‘24 Griffin Scott (Ida B. Wells) - The junior southpaw took the bump on Tuesday in the series opener against Cleveland. Scott put together a quality outing for the Guardians, as he tossed five shutout innings. He sat down eight opposing batters, while allowing just five hits. His final line was 5 IP, 8 Ks, 5 H, 3 BB, 0 R. The very next day, Scott led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run. Throughout 10 plate apperances this week, he reached base a total of eight times. 

‘23 Buddy Brands (Tigard) - The Iowa Western CC recruit continued his dominant senior campaign this past Thursday with an impressive performance against Aloha. He tossed six shutout innings and allowed just one base runner while striking out nine opposing batters. His final line was 6 IP, 9 Ks, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 R. 

‘23 JD Cannon (Tigard) - The Mt. Hood CC commit has been a mainstay in the lineup this season for Tigard. He continued to impress with his bat this week, going 4-for-8 with a pair of doubles, a pair of runs scored, and a pair of runs driven in.

‘25 Noah Kovac (Sandy) -  On the hill, the sophomore struck out 14 over six innings of work, allowing just three hits and three walks. He provided himself with offensive insurance, going 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and an RBI. 

‘24 Nolan Miller (Sheldon)The junior southpaw got to toe-the-rubber this past Tuesday against a potent Roseburg lineup. He went the distance, punching out a dozen while allowing just one walk and no runs. His final line on the bump was 7 IP, 12 Ks, 6 H, 1 BB, 0 R. He also supported himself offensively, adding a pair of hits and an RBI. He finished 2-for-4 with a double, a pair of runs scored, and the aforementioned RBI.

‘24 Ty Sheldon (Liberty) - Sheldon provided stable offense for Liberty this past week, batting .250 with a pair of RBI. He provided excellent defense behind the plate, catching three different attempted base stealers and picking off another runner. There were just two total innings that Sheldon did not catch this past week, and those he spent on the mound recording a pair of saves. He went 2-for-2 on save opportunities, with four of the six outs he recorded coming via strikeout.

‘23 Wyatt Connally (Stayton) - The Linn-Benton CC recruit took the bump for Stayton in their league opener. The southpaw tossed a complete game shutout during his start, striking out seven over five innings of work. He also provided offensive production, going 2-for-3 with a double. 

'25 Landen Sigler (Mountainside) - The sophomore batted .400 this week, adding a double, a pair of RBI, and six runs scored. He also added stellar defense for the Mavericks, including a diving play to save a run. His contributions helped the Mavericks go 2-1 on the week. His final offense line was 4-for-10.

'24 Elym Young (Mountainside) - The left-handed hitting junior was a key contributor to the Mavericks this past week, adding reliable production towards the bottom of the lineup. He went 5-for-11 on the week with a double and three RBI. 

'23 Luke Brooks (Lakeridge) - Brooks is one of the top uncommitted seniors in the area, and he showed why. The high-academic righty was absolutely phenomenal in his start this past week for the Pacers. Across five innings of work, he punched out 13 batters and allowed just one earned run. His final line was 5 IP, 13 Ks, 3 H, 3 BB, 1 ER. 

'24 Hudson Normand (Clackamas) - The junior righty got toe-the-rubber this week for Clackamas, and he did not disappoint. Normand tossed a five inning complete game. He allowed just one hit while striking out eight opposing hitters. His final line was 5 IP, 8 Ks, 3 BB, 1 H, 0 R. 

'25 RHP Mark Carpenter (Henley) - The sophomore righty took the bump on Saturday against Phoenix and was absolutely stellar. He worked six innings of shutout baseball, allowing just one hit and one walk while recording 15 of his 18 outs via the strikeout. His final line was 6 IP, 15 Ks, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 R. 

'26 Grady Saunders (Thurston) - The Oregon State recruit proved once again to be one of the top freshmen in the region with a dominating performance against North Eugene. He tossed five perfect innings, striking out nine opposing hitters on just 63 pitches. His final line was 5 IP, 9 Ks, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 R. 

'23 RHP Ryan Rivers (Lebanon) - Tuesday pitched a no hitter with a school record 19 strikeouts. Only allowed 1 baserunner on a HBP. Final line 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 19 K
