DIAMOND NOTES

4.17.23 - 4.23.23

'26 Jace Litten (Churchill) - The freshman put together multiple impressive performances this week, one on each side of the baseball. In the Lancers first matchup of the week on Tuesday, Litten played a pivotal role in the offense. He went 2-for-4 with a triple, a pair of RBI, and a pair of runs scored in a big 13-6 victory. He also added a base hit in Saturday's first matchup. The second game on Saturday, however, Litten stole the show on the mound. The freshman punched out nine opposing hitters over the course of six innings of work, all while allowing just one run. His final line on the mound was 6 IP, 9 Ks, 3 H, 2 BB, 1 ER, and the win.

'24 Hudson Normand (Clackamas) - The junior righty had two big performances this past week for the Cavaliers. In his first performance of the week, he entered the game in relief and recorded a six out save. For his second appearance of the week, Normand got the start on the bump. Normand went the distance, hurling a complete game and recording the win. Between his two appearances, his final line was 9 IP, 6 Ks, 3 BB, 1 ER, 1 Save, 1 Win.

'25 Colin Downs (Cleveland) - The sophomore had a big week for the Warriors, highlighted by a five hit performance on Saturday against McDaniel. Downs was an offensive catalyst that game, recording a hit in all five of his at bats, with two of those going for extra-bases. He finished the game 5-for-5 with five RBI, three runs scored, a double, and a triple in a big 14-5 victory. Downs recorded at least one hit in each of the teams three games this week, and drove in multiple runs in each contest as well. He finished the week 8-for-13 with nine runs driven in and four stolen bags.

'23 Casey Allsop (Gladstone) - The uncommitted senior southpaw has been stellar this year, as displayed by his 0.75 ERA thus far. Friday was no different, as he tossed a complete game shutout against Estacada. Across seven innings of work, he surrendered just two walks while punching out eight opposing hitters. Allsop has been a true ace for Gladstone thus far as the Gladiators have won 14 in a row to open the season. His final line from the 21st was 7 IP, 8 Ks, 4 H, 2 BB, 0 R.

'24 Jonah Barkoff (Lake Oswego) - The Oregon commit showed why he is the top ranked southpaw in the state's junior class this past Tuesday. Barkoff worked six innings of shutout baseball against Oregon City. He punched out 13 opposing hitters while allowing just four hits. He put his control on display, not allowing a walk during his outing. His final line was 6 IP, 13 Ks, 4 H, 0 BB, 0 R.

'23 Justin Redman (Nelson) - The senior showed off his two-way skillset across multiple performances this week. Starting on the bump, Redman tossed a five inning no-hitter. He recorded 11 strikeouts while walking just four opposing hitters. His final pitching line for the week was 5 IP, 11 Ks, 4 BBs, 0 H, 0 R. Redman also provided plenty of offense this week, batting 4-for-8 with a double, a triple, and eight RBI.

'23 Aiden Horsley (North Medford) - The senior took the mound this past week for the Black Tornado and was phenomenal. He hurled a complete game shutout, striking out eight while allowing just two hits in the process. His final line was 7 IP, 8 Ks, 3 BB, 2 H, 0 R.

'24 Luke Kovac (Sandy) - The junior had a big time performance in a win over Clackamas this past week. Starting out at the plate, Kovac launched a two-run home run for the Pioneers. He also came in to pitch in relief, recording five outs and the win. For the week, Kovac recorded two hits and three RBI while in the batters box. On the mound, he went 1.2 IP, 2 Ks, 2 BB, 1 H, 0 ER.

'25 Noah Kovac (Sandy) - Kovac continues to show as an arm to follow in the state's sophomore class. He tossed a complete game this past week, allowing just three total base runners while punching out 14 opposing hitters. His final line was 7 IP, 14 Ks, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 R. Kovac also provided sound offense for the Pioneers this week, reaching base four times in seven plate appearances.

‘25 Connor Parry (Sherwood) - Parry continues to build upon a strong sophomore campaign, as he was mentioned in last week's Diamond Notes as well. His dominance on the mound was even more prevalent on the 19th, as he struck out 13 batters over seven innings of work en route to perfect game. In that same game, Parry reached base three times himself, including a pair of base hits. He is currently one of the top uncommitted arms in the state's sophomore class. His final line from last Wednesday was 7 IP, 13 Ks, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 R.

‘24 Nolan Umlandt (Sherwood) - The Portland commit's performance this past again was once again nothing short of spectacular. Umlandt got to toe-the-rubber in Sherwood's series opener on Monday, and he shut down the Century lineup. The righty was his usual dominant self, racking up 11 strikeouts while allowing just one walk across six shutout innings of work. Umlandt once again continues to prove why he is a premium arm in the state's junior class. His final line from his past start was 6 IP, 11 Ks, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 R.

'23 Carson Waples (Silverton) - The Mt. Hood CC commit continued his excellent senior campaign for the Foxes. He had two pitching appearances this week, one being in relief. That game, he recorded two strikeouts over the course of two perfect innings. In his second appearance of the week, Waples hurled five shutout innings in an impressive start. The senior allowed just two hits and punched out six opposing hitters. He also added a pair of RBI himself offensively in the win. His final pitching line this week was 7 IP, 8 Ks, 2 H, 0 R.

'23 Wyatt Connally (Stayton) - The Linn-Benton CC commit put on a show this past week, proving once again why he is among the top southpaws in the state's senior class. His win this week puts him at a 4-0 record on the bump this season. In his one start this past week, he struck out eight opposing hitters across six shutout innings of work.

'26 Grady Saunders (Thurston) - The Oregon State commit continues to show why he is considered among the top prospects in the region for the freshman class. He was nearly untouchable, allowing just three hits while punching out nine in seven innings of work. His final pitching line was 7 IP, 9 Ks, 3 H, 2 BB, 0 R. He also provided offense production, going 2-for-5 with three RBI across multiple contests this week.

'24 Blake Crawford (West Linn) - The junior southpaw came on in relief on Tuesday in the series opener and was untouchable. He worked three no-hit innings, recording six of his nine outs via the strikeout. His final line was 3 IP, 6 Ks, 1 BB, 0 H, 0 R.

'23 Drake Gabel (West Linn) - The Seattle commit came close to perfection in his start against Tigard in the series finale on Friday. The 6-foot-2 southpaw continued to show why he is a premiere arm in the state's senior class, racking up a dozen strikeouts while allowing just one hit and failing to surrender a walk. His final line was 7 IP, 12 Ks, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 R.

'24 Gabe Howard (West Linn) - The Oregon recruit was dominant in the middle matchup between West Linn and Tigard. His final line was 5 IP, 5 Ks, 6 H, 2 ER, 0 BB.

'23 Drew Talavs (West Linn) - The Oregon State recruit got the opportunity to toe-the-rubber in the series opener against Tigard on Tuesday. His final line was 4 IP, 7 Ks, 4 BB, 1 H, 1 ER.

'24 Luke Haener (Wilsonville) - The junior righty got the start last Tuesday in a tough road setting at Canby, and did much more than hold his own.
