A look at 5 Unsigned Seniors

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The high school season in full swing we take a look at five seniors that are still looking for a place to play next fall.

Ben Madison, RHP, Bauxite High School
Madison is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and a physical body. His delivery is repeated consistently with rushed rhythm. He use a high ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm action. He worked his two innings with fastball velocity of 85-87 mph, a slider 73-76 mph, and a change up 68-71 mph. He has command of his fastball that has late life through the strike zone. His slider has 10/4 shape with sharp break.  His changeup is thrown with near fastball arm speed with limited command. Madison projects to get better due to his arm action and pure athleticism.

Antione Luster, RHP, White Hall High School
Luster is a 6-foot-1 180-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and build. His fastball was 84-86 with slight cut. He commanded the bottom half of the strike zone on consistent bases. His change up and curveball also were thrown for strikes. The curveball was thrown at 69-71 mph with early 11/5 break. His changeup had arm-side run and was thrown at 67-69 mph with slower arm speed than his fastball. Mechanically he works from a low ¾ arm slot with a short arm circle. He maintains good rhythm and balance throughout his delivery. He lacks extension toward home plate. If he would improve in this area his action on his off-speed pitches would improve.

James Tucker, RHP, Jacksonville High School
Tucker is a 6-foot, 190-pound righter with a large frame and an average build. He pitches from a H ¾ arm slot with a quick arm that wraps on the back side. His commands his fastball consistently on both sides of the plate. His fastball is 81-84 mph. His commands his 11/5 curveball with depth for strikes. He throws a change up but struggles to maintain arm speed with it. Tucker impresses with his mound presence and his commitment to attacking the strike zone. He threw a no hitter Tuesday March, 31st against Bebee High School.

Christian Brasher, MIF, Southside High School
Brasher is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound MIF, with a medium build and an athletic frame. He is a good athlete that runs a 6.97 in the 60. Defensively he has fluid footwork and soft hands. He possess a quick exchange with an accurate arm with carry. Brasher is off to a good start to his senior year hitting .400 with 3 triples 1 double, through his first 14 games. He has compact line drive swing with balance through extension.

Zach Stanley, OF, Har-Ber High School
Stanley, a 6-foot-3 210-pound outfielder, has the size and frame that will catch any talent evaluators eye. Athletically superior, running a 6.65 in the 60, and a 3.85 home first from the right side.  Defensively is sound with fluid footwork and clean exchange. He throws from a High ¾ arm slot that is accurate and has carry. He registered 83 mph during outfield velocity testing. Offensively, he is raw. He starts from an athletic stance and has a short stride. He has fast bat speed and a level line drive swing. He has choppy rhythm and struggles to use his lower half. Offensively he has a ways to go but he finds barrel and is coach-able.
