Greene County Tech Spring Break Recap

Over Spring Break, Coach Bruce Hunt and the Greene County Tech Golden Eagles packed their bags for the Palmetto State and headed to Myrtle Beach for the Ripken Experience Classic. Both varsity and JV teams participated in a round robin format that included 13 games in four days. Here is a synopsis of the varsity games, in which the Eagles went 2-3 on the week:

Greene County Tech 2 vs  Upper St. Clair (Philadelphia, PA)  7

Junior Ty Gordon was 2-3 in the loss including a 2B and an RBI. Junior 3B Austin Shelton was 2-2 and also knocked a run in.

Greene County Tech 1 vs South Boone Co. (Ashland, MO) 0

Junior RHP Ty Gordon continued his stellar 2015 campaign with a solid 5 IP. Gordon struck out five while scattering three hits and only walking one. Sophomore RHP Drew Mullins earned the save, throwing the 6th and 7th and striking out 2. At the plate, Tristen Wright's sac fly in the 4th was enough to back Gordon and Mullins' combined gem.

Greene County Tech 1 vs Germantown Friends (Pittsburgh, PA) 4

Sophomore OF Colby Boyd was 1-3 and drove in the lone Eagle run.

Greene County Tech 3 vs  South Park, PA 5

Luke Reddick, Colby Boyd and Brayden Ezell each drove in runs in the loss.

Greene County Tech 6 vs DePaul Catholic (Wayne, NJ) 1

Sophomore Drew Mullins finished a stellar week on the mound with 4 IP, allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out two. Junior righty Austin Shelton earned the workman’s save, going three innings and striking out three, while allowing one ER. At the plate for the Eagles, Braden Ezelll drove in two and Ty Gordon and Junior catcher Trayce Williams each chipped in RBIs of their own.

GCT returns to Arkansas this week, hosting Highway 49 adversary Brookland at home on Monday. On Tuesday, the Eagles travel to Wynne for a key 5A East matchup again Lionel Myers' Yellowjacket squad that features 2015 RHP and PBR Senior Showcase standout Robert Harrison. The Eagles wrap the week on Friday in a non-conference matchup with the Armorel Tigers
