Alabama High School Team Preview: Abbeville Christian Academy Generals

The 2022 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Montgomery at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason Top 10 in each AHSAA classification.

Team Outlook

The Abbeville Christian Academy Generals have won multiple state titles in AISA Class A over the past couple decades, and they'll look to make it back this year. The Generals return six positional players and seven pitchers who saw time on last year's team, so they have plenty of experience coming back for this season.

The Generals have six returning players both from the lineup and on the mound in 2022. SS/RHP Connor Hutto will be a player the Tigers rely on greatly this spring, as he returns a lot of experience both at the plate and on the mound. C/3B Connor Jones is another junior, like Hutto, who should lead the way for this Abbeville Christian Academy squad. OF/3B Dillon Mims & RHP Cole Goodson are also a pair of upperclassmen who provide some leadership and should see their roles increase in 2022. Some other upperclassmen to watch for this spring will be UTL/RHP Brandon Early, RHP/1B Jake Hamilton, OF/RHP Hunter Odom, RHP/OF Justin Murphy & RHP/1B Boone Sumlar.

In addition to these upperclassmen mentioned above, there will also be some younger players who are eager to get on the playing field and make an impact for the Generals. Some of these underclassmen are SS/2B Titus McCreight & C/2B Reid Quincy. Abbeville Christian Academy should be a competitive club yet again in 2022.
