By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The inaugural All-State Games were this week end hosted at Extra Innings of Little Rock and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This event had 96 players representing the each region of the state. This week we are going to highlight some of the top performers at each position. Today we look at five arm that had good performances over the week end.  To see our video breakdown on these great athletes click here.

2016 LHP Hunter Brantley, Junction City HS
Brantley is a 5-foot-10 180-pound left-hander with an athletic build and frame. He pitches from a high ¾ arm slot with an average arm with a slap wrap in the back. He has repeatable mechanics and has a feel for the strike zone. He located his fastball in bottom of the strike zone at 79-81 mph with late run. He complimented his fastball with a 1/7 curveball with depth at 66-67 mph. Overall Brantley is a quality left-hander with pitchability that is uncommitted.

2016 RHP Carter Brown, Bentonville HS
Brown is a 6-foot-1 195-pound right-hander with a large frame and a physical build. He impressed with his fastball, on Saturday he touched 90 mph in his bullpen and on Sunday worked his inning at 86-88 mph. He mixed in a curveball at 69 mph with some depth to keep hitters off balance. Mechanically Brown works from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick arm. He does a solid job off repeating his mechanics with good extension to home plate. Overall Brown is a physical athlete that understands his strength and pounds the strike zone with his fastball. Brown is committed to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

2016 RHP Ryan Czanstowski, Mountain Home HS
Czanstowksi is a 6-foot-1 185-pound right-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. He pitched from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm. He repeats his mechanics and has a feel for the strike zone. He would benefit from a hip load, so he can stay over his back side longer and not drag his arm through. He showed late life with his fastball working 85-86 mph touching 88 during his two innings of work. He also located a curveball at 77 mph and a change up at 80 mph. His steady mix of pitches allowed him to strike out 5. Overall Czanstowski is a physical athlete that projects to get better has he continues to clean up mechanically. I expect him to move from the uncommitted ranks very quickly after the week end.

2016 RHP Christian Goshen, North Little Rock HS
Goshen is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right hander with a medium frame and an athletic build. Goshen impressed with his pure consistency. He was on point as usual pounding the strike zone with two quality pitches. His fastball worked 84-86 with late sink and his curveball was thrown 72-74 mph with late 11/5 action. Overall Goshen is a quality two pitch guy that understands how to pitch. He is committed to Southern Missouri.

2018 RHP Will Richardson, Woodlawn HS
Richardson is a 6-foot-2 175-pound right-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. He pounded the lower-half of the strike zone with a fastball with late sink at 80-82 mph and ran it up as high as 85 mph. He compliments his fastball with change up and curveball. His curveball has Frisbee action thrown at 74-75 mph. His changeup is thrown at near fastball arm speed and has arm side run. Mechanically he works from a low ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm and repeatable mechanics. Overall Richardson is a quality young arm, as he continues to develop he will throw harder.
