All-State Games Scout Notes; Team White

The All-State Games were Saturday, October 22nd and 23rd at Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University. The event saw 94 players compete in three games. Below you will find scout notes over Team White. As we continue to dive into video analysis more complete write ups will be put in the players profiles.

Scout Notes Hitters:

2017 MIF Sam Box Providence Academy
Athletic frame and build; sound defender with fluid footwork normal exchange and an accurate arm. Offensively starts with an athletic stance, with a minimum load, stride combination. His swing is a line drive swing, he maintains balance through extension. Solid athleticism,

2018 OF Weston McGhee North Little Rock HS
Athletic frame and build; offensively starts with an athletic stance, minimum load with a slight leg kick. Attacks the baseball with slight uphill swing, maintains balance. Used above average speed to be a threat on the bases. Played hard scoring from second on a passed ball. Defensively sound playing through the baseball with fluid footwork, throws with accuracy.

2018 MIF Sabino Nino Springdale HS
Athletic frame and build; above average defensive actions, quick exchange with short arm action. He showed normal arm strength with accuracy. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, hand placement is in front of back shoulder, he uses minimum load and stride combination; uses line drive swing with rotation.

2018 MIF Devin Hearn Bentonville HS
Slight frame and athletic build; defensively sound with some stiffness to glove actions. His footwork is fluid with a normal exchange. Offensively he starts with an athletic stance, with minimum load and stride. He uses an uphill swing with rotation to attack the baseball. Solid athlete

2018 MIF Chris Willard Nashville HS
Large frame with lanky build; offensively uses a compact swing to consistently barrel balls up. He starts from an athletic stance, with a slight load stride, attacks the baseball with fast bat speed. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork, he throws from an L ¾ arm slot with a quick arm. He is an above athlete.

2017 C Caleb Grace Har-Ber HS
Athletic frame and physical build; LH Hitter, starts from an open stance, gets back online consistently. Attacks the baseball with a line drive swing with fast bat speed. When his approach stays to opposite field he is productive hitter, shows tendency to get around balls at times. Defensively shows above average arm strength with carry and accuracy. He showed sound blocking and receiving skills as well as a consistent effort. Athletic enough to play corner outfield or infield.

2018 MIF Garrett Cook Genoa Central HS
Athletic frame and lanky build; offensively starts from an open stance getting back online he attacks the baseball with line drive swing. He showed the ability to make consistent hard contact. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid actions, a normal exchange and a short arm action, which delivers the ball accurately. Solid athlete

2019 C/3B Trent Pullin, Crossett HS
Athletic frame with thin build; Offensively starts with athletic stance, drops hands during load stride sequence, uses a line drive swing with rotation. Defensively, played through the baseball with choppy footwork and normal exchange throwing the baseball accurately

2019 C Nick Jones, Searcy HS
Large frame with athletic build; offensively he starts with a slightly open stance, he uses a minimum stride to get online, his swing is uphill with rotation. He maintains balance through contact and finds barrel with consistency. Defensively he showed the ability to compete at multiple position. Behind the plate he blacked and received consistently. His throws to second were accurate with carry.

2019 OF Michael Hesson, Booneville HS
Athletic frame and build; defensively sound, showing solid instincts on balls in the air, he played through the baseball with fluid footwork. He used a normal exchange and throws with H ¾ arm slot accurately. Offensively he starts with an athletic stance, he does not use a hand load, his stride is a slight leg lift, and he uses a line drive swing with rotation; above average athlete with project ability.

2018 CIF/OF Ryan Daggs, Greenwood HS
Stocky frame with a solid build; Offensively uses his physical strength to generate fast bat speed with an uphill swing with rotation. Defensively he plays through the baseball with choppy footwork, and some stiffness. He uses a quick exchange, he throws from an H ¾ arm slot with short quick arm. He throws the baseball accurately with carry. Advanced physically

2018 C/RHP Andrew Howard. Maumelle HS
Athletic frame and build; defensively shows effort blocking and receiving. Throws from a ¾ arm slot with accuracy. Offensively he starts form an athletic stance, drops his hands to a low slot during load, uses a minimum stride, and uses a line drive swing. Little incorporation of his lower in his swing; above average athlete with a quick arm

2017 OF/CIF Quinn Cherry, Harrison HS
Large frame and Physical build; Offensively advanced attacking the baseball with fast bat speed and a line drive swing. He uses a line drive swing with a feel for barrel and shows consistent pull power. Defensively sound as a corner infielder or corner outfielder, plays through the baseball with normal action, a fluid exchange and an accurate arm with carry.

Scout Notes Pitchers:

2017 RHP Caleb Grace, Har-ber HS
Athletic frame and physical build; pitched from an H ¾ arm slot with a short quick arm. He repeated his mechanics with a distinct balance point maintaining rhythm, he finish tall toward home plate. His fastball worked 82-84 mph with late life through the strike zone, he complimented his fastball with a curveball with 11/5 shape thrown 70-72 mph with some depth. Recorded one strike out in his two innings of work.

2019 RHP Nick Jones, Searcy HS
Large frame and athletic build; pitched from an H ¾ arm with a short arm action. Repeated delivery with some rhythm to it. He has a feel for two pitches, his fastball works consistently 76-78 mph with slight run and change up worked 66-68 mph with 11/5 shape and gradual break. Showed ability to work out of jams and solid composure in his two shutout innings.

2018 RHP Blake Pschier, Greenwood, HS
Large frame and athletic build; His fastball worked 80-82 mph touching 83 mph with slight sink. He also showed a feel for a curveball and changeup. The curveball was thrown 69-71 mph had 11/5 shape and early break, he also threw a change up with near fastball arm speed that had late arm side run. Mechanically he was sound with a simple repeated delivery. He throws from an H ¾ arm average arm speed.

2018 RHP Preston Fleeman, Benton HS
Large frame with a thin build; His fastball showed late life through the strike zone working 82-84 mph touching 85 mph. He also threw a curveball that worked 68-70 mph with fastball arm speed and inconsistent break. Mechanically he repeated his simple delivery with consistency. He showed late hand separation with limited extension. A quick loose arm that shows projection and is trending I the right direction 6 mph velocity jump in the last year.

2018 RHP Parker Edwards, Alma HS
Athletic frame and build. He uses repeated mechanics with a simple delivery. He pitches from ¾ arm slot with a short quick arm action. His fastball worked 82-84 mph with command of the strike zone. He compliments his fastball with a sharp curveball with late action 70-71 mph. He throws his changeup consistently in the strike zone at 69-71 mph with arm side run.

2017 RHP Preston Pope, Nashville HS
Athletic frame and normal build; Showed advanced pitch ability locating three pitches for a strike. His fastball was 80-83 mph, and was commanded on both sides of the plate. He threw his curveball consistently 70-72 mph with 11/5 shape and late action with depth. He also commanded a changeup down in the zone with fastball arm speed 68-70 mph. He uses a simple delivery that is repeated, he gets little extension toward home plate.

2019 RHP Dereck Jobe, El Dorado HS
Athletic frame and build; Pitched from an H ¾ arm slot with a loose quick arm. He has consistent rhythm, using a distinct balance point in a drop drive delivery which is repeated. He showed feel for both his fastball and curveball. The fastball worked 81-83 mph with late cut and the curveball worked 70-72 mph with early break. He shows upside as an advanced athlete.

2018 RHP Chris Willard, Nashville HS
Large frame and lanky build; He showed command of the strike zone, with two solid pitches. He throws from a ¾ arm slot with a short quick arm action. His fastball worked 78-80 mph with slight run. His slider had a sweeping action and was thrown 69-71 mph. He repeated his mechanics consistently getting limited extension to home plate.

2018 Devin Hear, Bentonville HS
Athletic frame and build; He pitched from a ¾ arm slot with a short arm action. His fastball worked 77-79 mph, he showed a breaking ball with erratic action. His delivery was rushed with effort, inconsistent with hand separation, he falls to the first base side in delivery. Has athleticism.

2018 RHP Andrew Howard, Maumelle HS
Athletic frame and build; He used a short quick arm action from multiple slots. Repeated mechanics consistently with normal rhythm and effort. Fastball worked 81-83 mph with slight run, he also showed a feel for curveball thrown 65-68 mph with sweeping action and change up 64-67 mph with arm side run.
