Reno Knights (4) vs. Silverado Hawks (2)

A consummate pitching duel for five innings with Knights starter, ’19 John Barry and Silverado’s ’21 Ryan Skelly going head to head. The Knights score first on a two out, 2 strike single by pinch hitter, ’19 Isaac Schuck. The Hawks answered with two runs of their own in their half of the sixth and led 2-1, headed to the seventh. The Knights tied the game in the seventh, with two out and a runner aboard, ’20 Gunner Gouldsmith belted a 2-0 offering over the right centerfield wall giving Reno a 4-2 lead. Reno closer, ’21 Sam Smith retired five of the final six hitters he faced to earn the win.

Silverado eliminated

Rancho (5) vs. Durango Post 76 (3)

Durango struck first for three runs in the top of the first, but that would be all that Rancho starter, ’22 Blake Evans would yield, throwing 6.1 innings before being lifted for ’20 Andrew Baughn. Offensively, Rancho scored 1 in the second on designated hitter, Adrian Gomez’s solo home run and the Rams would tack on four in the 4th. The bottom of the Rancho order scored all five runs. Adrian Gomez had two hits and two RBI for the Rams and shortstop, Shelby Richards drove in a pair as well. Durango’s ’18 Cooper Kitrel led Post 76 with two hits including a triple.

Durango Elimnated

Las Vegas Aces (10) vs. Centennial Bulldogs (8)

The Aces jumped on the board first courtesy of a homerun by ’18 Chaison Miklich and led 3-0 at the end of one.  The Bulldogs answered with four runs in the top of the second to force the first of three lead changes in the game. Bulldog starter, ’21 Jonathan Merino struggled in the first but competed into the fourth, posting zeros in the 2nd and 3rd, paving the way for what looked to be a come from behind victory, but the Aces offense proved to potent. The Aces pounded out 14 hits with five starters collecting multiple hits. Miklich was the story of the day with two hits and 4 RBI as well as tossing 3.1 innings of relief and surrendering just one earned run, providing the lift the Aces needed to earn the victory, 10-8. Offensively, four Bulldogs had multiple hit games, ’20 Anthony Martinez, ’20 Travis Rice, ’20 Chris Larkin and ’20 Zack Simon.

Southern Nevada Tribe (4) vs Las Vegas Patriots (3)

The fourth and final game of the day proved worth waiting for. Talented starters, ’19 Shane Spencer (Tribe) and ’20 Ethan O’Neal (Patriots) went toe to toe. O’Neal went 5.1 innings, striking out five before being lifted due to pitch count for ’21 Ryan Towers, LHP.  Spencer would go the distance for the Tribe and punch out five as well. With the Patriots leading 3-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh, ’21 Dominik Tavares leadoff with a single. ’19 Nick Thompson would follow with another single, leaving runners at 1st and 2nd. The Patriots, Ryan Towers retired the lead runner at 3rd on an unsuccessful sacrifice bunt attempt by ’18 Christian Rivero. ’19 Kyle Turner (Tribe) stepped to the plate and hit a ball by the glove of third baseman ’20 Bryce Jaramillo, carrying into the LF corner.
