Belleville East (9-4) surprised No. 18 Mount Vernon (12-2) on Friday. Lancer junior Sam Bassett (2-1) fired a six-hitter at the Rams, as East won 7-2. Junior Brandon Hoguet had two hits, including a double and plated two Lancer runs. Colton Meader led MV with two hits and an RBI.

 Highland (8-1) defeated Effingham 4-2 on Friday.

Danville (9-4) rolled to its fourth consecutive win on Friday defeating Covington (IN) 6-3. Viking senior Cash Kiser pitched 6 1/3 solid innings to improve to 4-0 on the mound for the Vikings. Junior Chase Thurston slammed the door in the seventh to nail down his second save of the year for Kiser.

Viking sophomore Austin West went deep and doubled to lead the Viking attack on Friday.

Bethalto Civic Memorial (4-7) stunned Southwestern Conference tri-leader O’Fallon 3-1 on Friday. O’ Fallon (8-5) shares the SWC lead with No.14 Alton (9-2) and Belleville East.

Sandburg (5-2-1) ran wild over Eisenhower 20-0 on Friday.
