ArkLaTex Tournament: Game Recaps Day 2

The ArkLaTex open kicked off Thursday with an open work out with 36 players from Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Friday we moved into the games portion of the week end. Six teams total will be competing at Louisiana Tech University, throughout the week end. This year the 6 teams come from two organizations, the Louisiana Knights and Sticks Baseball Academy. All teams are 16U or below featuring some very talented underclassmen.

GAME 5 - LOUISIANA KNIGHTS 15U BLACK VS STICKS BASEBALL 16U
Louisiana Knights 15U Black defeated Sticks Baseball 16U 8 -5.
The The Knights scored 1 in the 1st when 2020 CIF Kolby Presley singled to drive in 2020 MIF Thomas Sotile who was hit by a pitch.
The Sticks answered with 3 runs of their own in the top of the 2nd when 2019 INF Hunter Allen hit a bases clearing double.
The Knights scored a run in the 2nd and 4 runs in the 3rd to take 6-3 lead. The big blow came on a 3 run home run by 2020 CIF Kolby Presley. The Knights followed with a run in the 4th to push their lead to 7-3
The Sticks scored 2 in the 6th to cut the Knights lead to 7-5. 2020 INF Brayden Sites had an RBI single, and 2020 CIF Luke Hindman who reached on a single scored on a wild pitch.
The Knights received a solid start from 2020 RHP Brock Barthelemy who worked 5 innings allowing 3 runs 3 hits while striking out 7. He shows some projection with a quick arm. His fastball worked 78-81 mph, he complemented that with a curveball thrown 68-70 mph with early break.

GAME 6 - LOUISIANA KNIGHTS 16U BLACK VS STICKS BASEBALL 2020
The Sticks scored a run in the bottoms of the first to get the scoring started for game 6 of the tournament when 2020 OF/LHP Nick Griffin scored on a fielder's choice, Griffin lead the game off with an infield single.
The Knights answer with 3 in the 2nd to take a 3-1. 2019 Austyn Benoit drove in 2019 OF Will Duncan and 2019 MIF Garrett Felix. Benoit scored when 2019 MIF/C Carson Jones doubled off the left field wall. The lead moved to 8-1 in the 5th highlighted by 2019 CIF Owen Hnatyshyn 3 run homerun.
After the first 2019 RHP Drew McDaniel settled pitching 4 consecutive shutout innings to pick up the win for the Knights. His final line was 5 innings pitched with 6 strikeouts he only allowed 1 run on 2 hits .
The Sticks scored 1 run in the bottom of the 7th when 2020 MIF Brayden Sites doubled followed by a 2020 CIF Will Gross double to push the score to its final of 8-2.

GAME 7 - LOUISIANA KNIGHTS 16U GREEN VS STICKS BASEBALL 2019
Sticks Baseball 2019 scored 2 runs in the first taking advantage of 2 walks and an error. 2019 CIF Mason Morgan drove in a run with 1 single for their lone hit in the frame.
The Knights answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st 2019 OF Jace Pendarvis singled and scored. 2019 1B/OF Michael Latulas continued his impressive week end with a triple and scored on a single by 2019 C Kade Shannon. The Knights weren't done scoring there as they scored 2 in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th.
The Sticks scratched a run across in the 5th as 2019 OF Cole Kelly hit a double and scored on a single by 2019 OF/C Justin Holland.
The Knights answered with 5 runs of their own to put the game away for good. 2019 OF Jace Pendarvis and 2019 MIF Skipper Snypes both hits and scored runs during the exciting 5th inning.
The Knights won with a final score of 13-3 after 6 innings of play. 2019 RHP Jacob Boudreaux picked up the win pitching 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 4. He commanded the fastball consistently and mixed in a solid breaking ball.

GAME 8 - LOUISIANA KNIGHTS 16U BLACK VS STICKS BASEBALL 2019
The Louisiana Knights 16U Black defeated Sticks Baseball 2019 10-3 in the final game of day 2. The Knights pounded out 12 hits on the evening, capitalizing on 3 miscues by the Sticks defensively.
2019 RHP KC Hunt picked up the win for the Knights and impressed several talent evaluators, with advanced arm strength and a feel for his slider. He threw 4 innings with 6 strikeouts allowing 3 runs. 2019 LHP TK Burton was sound in relief throwing 3 innings with no runs allowed and 3 punch outs.
2019 MIF Garrett Felix had a big offensive game for the Knights going 3-3 with a triple 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs. 2019 OF Carter Quinn also had a multi-hit game with 2 RBIs.
The Sticks received a competitive start from 2020 RHP Luke Davenport, who pitched 3 innings allowing 1 earned run on 6 hits with 2 strikeouts. Offensively 2019 LHP/CIF Zach Morris had a double and a run scored to lead the way.
