ArkLaTex Tournament: Game Recaps Day 3

The ArkLaTex open kicked off Thursday with an open work out with 36 players from Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Friday we moved into the games portion of the week end. Six teams total will be competing at Louisiana Tech University, throughout the week end. This year the 6 teams come from two organizations, the Louisiana Knights and Sticks Baseball Academy. All teams are 16U or below featuring some very talented underclassmen.

GAME 9 LOUISIANA KNIGHTS 16U BLACK VS STICKS BASEBALL 2020
The Louisiana Knights 16U Black defeated Sticks Baseball 2020 9-1 to kick off the final day of the ArkLaTex Open Tournament.
The Sticks scored a run in the 1st when 2020 INF Brayden Sites tripled and scored on 2020 CIF Luke Hindman RBI single.
The Knights were held in check the first 2 innings by 2020 RHP Will Gross. In the 3rd they manufactured a run to score 2019 MIF Garrett Felix who lead off the inning with a walk. They took the lead in the 4th when 2019 C Kade Shannon doubled in a run. The lead widened 5-1 after the 4th with the highlight being a 3 run homerun by 2019 CIF Owen Hnatyshyn.
In the 5th Shannon and Hnatyshyn struck again, this time a 2 RBI single by Shannon and a RBI single by Hnatyshyn. Those runs pushed the score to 9-1 and the game was ended due to run rule.
2019 RHP Seth Traweek picked up the win for the Knights pitching 5 innings allowing just 1 run on 5 hits, he struck out 5 along the way.

GAME 10 - LOUISIANA 15U BLACK VS STICKS BASEBALL 2019
Louisiana Knights 15U Black defeated Sticks Baseball 2019 9-8 in walk off fashion in game 10 of the ArkLaTex Open Tournament.
The Sticks scored 2 in the 1st and 1 in 2nd. The Knights answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 4-3.
The Sticks scored 5 in runs the top of the 6th to take an 8-4 lead. 2019 1B/LHP Zac Morris stepped up with a bases loaded single to push two runs across to give the Sticks a 5-4 lead. The next three runs were walked in.
The Knights got a run back in teh 5th when 2019 OF KJ Jones hit an inside the park homerun. In the bottoms the 7th the Knights scored 4 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks. None were bigger than a double by 2019 OF KJ Jones which scored 2020 INF Kolby Presley.

Game 11 Louisiana Knights 16U Green vs Sticks Baseball Academy 2020
The Louisiana Knights 16U Green defeated Sticks Baseball Academy 2020 6-0 behind a strong pitching performance. 2019 RHP Jace Pendarvis picked up the win throwing 5 shutout innings allowing just 4 hits with 5 strikeouts. He was relieved by 2019 LHP KJ Jones we worked 2 innings striking out 3.
Offensively the Knights scored 6 runs on 9 hits, with 7 players picking up at least one hit. 2019 OF/LHP KJ Jones stood out picking up 2 hits including an inside the park home run. 2019 MIF Hunter Duhon also picked up two hits and scored a run.
2020 OF Nick Griffin stood out for the Sticks he displayed fast bat speed and an advanced feel for the barrel. He went 2-2 on the day with a walk. On the mound 2020 LHP Jackson Davis pitched 3 innings in relief for the Sticks not allowing an earned run with 2 strikeouts.
