2017 OF/RHP Tyler Moreland committed to Arkansas State University on Tuesday, August 2^nd. Moreland is the 22^nd ranked player in Arkansas 2017 class. He is the the 4^th ranked outfielder and the 7^th ranked right handed pitcher.

Moreland began popping up on college radars after the 2015 All-State Games. In that event he competed on the mound 84-87 touching 88 3 times in that outing. He also recorded 2 hits in his teams two games. In the spring he had a solid year for Genoa Central, helping them advance to the state tournament.

Over the summer Moreland stock continued to rise, at the Top Prospect Games and as his played continued to get better on field for the Extra Innings Sticks. Moreland’s best week end of the summer was at the Mid-America Tournaments tournament at Arkansas State University. Moreland recorded 8 hits over the week end including a home run and 3 doubles. On the mound he efficiently worked 4 innings with his fast ball showing up to 87 mph.

Moreland is a 6-foot-4 195-pound OF/RHP with a large frame and a projectable build. He ran a 6.71 in the 60. Defensively he played through the baseball with fluid footwork. He has a smooth exchange and throws the ball 86 mph with a clean arm action. Offensively he starts from a tall stance with slight load and a tall stance. He attacks the baseball with fast bat speed producing exit velocities up to 97 mph. On the Moreland works 84-87 mph in the bottom half of the strike zone. He also commanded a slider 76-79 mph with late 10/4 break. He does a sound job repeating his rhythm and mechanics. Overall Moreland is big time athlete that continues to show an increase in production on the field.
